    Best Pro Web Hosts?

    For all those out there who own their own domain somewhere, I could use a list of the best pro web hosting companies. If I'm going to pay for web space, it needs to be solid, fast and have a good amount of diversity (i.e. scripts for forums, polls, e-commerce etc.). I've tried Startlogic, but actually got lag on their servers. I've heard that iPowerWeb is good, but have no personal experience. It also needs to be someone very trustworthy with excellent customer support. Suggestions?

    I also use 1and1 and love it ,but I don't do much scripting or anything mostly use it as just a file server and I host my cousins web page. It is free right now cause they had a deal running for a while. But even if I was paying for it starts quite cheap and the speeds are great.

    So how reliable is 1and1? I appreciate the feedback, especially as I've never heard of them until now.

    I run a multi-media website (reviews of music, films, games etc.) so I need a rather reliable host. I don't do any fancy scripting either, but does 1and1 have any pre-written PHP scripts for things like polls, for example? I'm not seeing any listed on their website.

    Their smallest package seems fair, but I've seen more offered for roughly the same price. Of course, as for being trustworthy and reliable, that's another story.

    So, is it going to be a matter of sacrificing one thing for another?

    Any more info you can give me would be great

    Well I have never seen them go down ,but like I said I am a casual user and am not checking it all the time. The speeds are decent I get over a meg down ,but I don't have lots of people hitting it all at once with large files like it sounds like you are going to.

    I believe I read somewhere when I was signing up that they were the worlds biggest web host and that you may not have heard of them because they were soley commercial until about a year ago. That is when they had their promotion where it was free to sign up and you got 3 years for free before you have to start paying.

    I may be wrong on that ,but I'm pretty sure that is what I read.
