Post Geforce 2 mx400 PCI problems

    Hi,
I just installed a geforce 2 mx400 PCI card into my hp 7940 PC. I disabled the built in AGP card (intel 810 soemthing I think) and installed the newest nvidia drivers(september) and dx8. Some games run great, some dont run.... In Max Payne I get the error mssg about being out of memory( I've 384mb ram and video card is 64mb)... similar mssg when I try to run EQ. Others, like the new wolf 3d demo run great. I've a feeling it has something to do with D3D but thats about all I can guess. If anyone can, please help.
    My system Specs:
    p3 1ghz
    inbuilt audio
    384mb ram
    64mb geforce 2 mx 400 PCI with dx8/newest drivers

    Thanks in advance

did you remove the AGP graphic card from system properties before you rebooted and disabled it in the bios?

yep and then deleted all the intel files I could find that had to do with display... as a matter of fact, I just reinstalled the drivers completely, but this time went for the default drivers windows me has for geforce 2.... sof ar everything works, but I do know these are noticeably slower then the brand new ones nvidia released in september.

I recommend you not install the Detonator XP drivers and instead download their latest offical drivers 12.41 in the driver archive.

actually... just fixed the problem, did a more through search of intel related files, reinstalled DX 8 and the newest drivers from scratch, and finally got it working without a hitch. Surprisingly, it being a PCI based card, it works extremely well ( I know how other systems perform, my hand made amd 1.2 ghz that just fizzled out(hehe dont o/c with a bad power supply!!!!) had the same card, mx 400 64mb, but in AGP format... and performance is nearly the same).
