PC-65 owners?

Been on the hunt for a new case, can't find exactly what I want. That leaves me modding the closest match. I love the MoBo tray on the PC-65 and the clean line looks. Now the question, is there enough room to mod the rear exauhst fan into a 120mm fan without compromising the structural integrety and function of the MoBo tray?

Any input on this would be greatly appretiated. Suggestions on a case with a similar MoBo tray, clean lines, and 120mm rear exauhst would also be welcome.

I don't have an answer to your question but two similar cases are the Cooler Master Praetorian (which someone on the forums was saying was better than his Lian-Li) and the Superflower 201/301. The superflower, while not terrible, has been said to be of lesser quality than the other two.

My old case was a Lian Li Pc60 first generation which is basically the same as the 65 cept for some cosmetic looks.Im pretty sure you wont be able to fit a 120mm on the back plate without some serious modding.On my pc60 i added another 80mm under the one that came with the case.Thats probably the best you can do...

The space between the edge of the case and the motherboard tray is just wide enough for the 80mm fans. I don't think you could modify it for 92mm fans, much less 120's.

I also have recently modded all 3 of my Lian Li's to incorporate 2 80mm fans in the rear. 2 Panaflo L1a's = pretty darn good airflow with minimal noise.

Thanks guys. That's the answer I was expecting from the pictures I've seen. Just thought it couldn't hurt to ask some people that have one. None of the local puter stores here in Northern VA carry them so I couldn't lay hands on one to see for myself. I am almost certain that I am going to get the PC-65. I love the clean lines and it looks easier to mod a second fan on the MoBo tray than the Praetorian, which is the other case I have been considering.

Beautiful!! If the Praetorian MoBo tray didn't have the fan directly in the center of the availible space for fans I might have gone with it, I like the over/under layout of the front fans better.

Is there any cooling advantage to having the hard drives in the vertical position as opposed to the horizontal? Is it for this reason that the Praetorian fans are over/under and the PC-6x side by side?

The front I/O, is that the one that comes with the case or did you build one, or are there replacement I/O panels for the PC-6x series?Looking at the pics on newwegg your front I/O looks different, that is if the PC-61 and the 60 are the same except for color.

Taz has the really old version, from around 2001 I think. Mine is the newer front bezel, and yours will look like that too.

As for the hard drives, I kinda like them sideways mounted. I have them in backwards, so it's really easy to hide the IDE and PSU cables. Plus, I have room for like 4 more HDD's in that cage. Once you've used a Lian-Li you'll really be able to appreciate the design. They are so easy to use, and make swapping parts a breeze, since they use all thumbscrews.

Thanks, I plan to. Will probably be making the purchase sometime in Jan. Moving my wife and 2 kids down to FL and myself into barracks to save money for when I get out of the military. Not sure if I'm going to build a whole new puter or just upgrade this POS. I do know that a new case and some modding are in my near future. I get giddy just thinking about it. Been wanting to mod something for awhile now but god forbid the wife not be able to email/pogo for a few days.

On topic, the PC-65 rocks. I've got a PC-60 a few years ago that I installed a WC system in. I wouldn't worry too much about getting a 120mm fan in back, the stock cooling is quite adequite. Here's a pic of my box:

Well I got this case last December, almost a year ago. I just started doing this the day I moved my hardware into it, since the wiring was cleaner and easier to route.
