    Where should I look...?

I am going to be moving into a house soon and so I want to get a nice entry/budget home theatre setup and I was wondering where I might look to research some receivers. At the place I work my boss offered me a break on some Harmon Kardon receivers we have (AVR 230/330/430) as well as some of the JBL speakers (E-10/20/30) I was thinking of getting a pair of the E10's for rear speakers, a pair of the E30's for front speakers and then a reciever. I would get that to start, then add a center and sub when I could. The receiver is my biggest target though. I need to be able to learn enough about them to make a smart buy. I can also get a discount at the local Good Guys, so I was thinking I might look into their Denon, onkyo and yamaha selection. Thanks for any help fellas. Price range, I am looking for maybe around $300 or less (unless I can be convinced that the extra $$$ is definitely worth breaking budget).

If you have a deal on harman kardon, then take it. The clarity is simply amazing. They have lower wattage ratings, but it's high current power, meaning it will be enough for anything you give it. I love the sound. Onkyo and Denons are also nice but I prefer HK. GL.

And I just saw your price range. So your best bet would definitely be HK imho. The make some of the best entry level receivers. Look into the HK AVR235.

Good to hear. I actually was looking at the HK AVR430 that my boss is trying to get rid of. I played with it for about an hour today at work. It is hooked up to a box that let me switch it through about 5 sets of speakers, with the JBL's that I listed above being my favorites. The price on the HK 430 right now is at $499, but my boss leaned in and said "I'll cut you a deal like you wouldn't believe. You'll never see a price like this again." So I'll be haggling to see if I can get that receiver and 2 pair of speakers for around $500 or so. We'll see.

Also, that $300 price range is also taking into factor that I can get cost on all of the receivers that the Good Guys sell, so that really is more like a $400-500 price range if you're looking at a retail price tag.
