    laptop video drivers

    i have a mobil 9600 in my laptop, are these brand specific or can I use the latest driver I can find on the web.

    I am asking this because emachines dsnt seen to ahev any driver support on their webpage.

    ATI won't release mobile drivers except through the OEM manufacturers. They want you to get them from your laptop manufacturer.

    I know there are generic or "altered" drivers out there, though, because a friend of mine is using some on his laptop instead of Dell's drivers. I don't have a link offhand for you, though.

    You may simply be able to use another laptop manufacturer's drivers if you know of a different make & model that uses the same video chipset.

    For laptops, you usually only have two choices:
    1. Manufacturer's drivers
    2. Omega drivers.

    ATI Catalyst 5.1 drivers.

    But I'd recommend Omega Drivers. Do a search on google for "omega drivers"

    You can download the cat driver, then mod them with a program called MobileMOD so that they work with moble processors.
