    umm what to do

Well I am currently running amd XP 2500 barton 712mb ddr 333 radeon9600xt. I guess I am not sure if I am really going to see much diff if I try out the Athlon 64 3200+ (2.0GHz/Socket 939). As of now I like to play generals zero hour and I get a lot of lag, gets kinda choppy. Any suggestions would be more than helpful.

More than likely you have something running in the background that is degrading performance.

However, the difference between a 3200+ A64 and 2500+ Barton is significant. I would say wait if you're not going to get new RAM though. What PSU are you using?

Running a 450watt thermolake. Well I try removing programs from running in the background to see if that helps. I used to run a tyan tiger dual athlon 1.0 and it ran much much better than this does by a longgg shot. I was able to burn cds and play games and watch a movie without any lagging at all. I wished I kept that board hehe.

You've got a good PSU, but you would definitely want at least PC3200 RAM.

A reformat would probably solve all your problems with your current setup though.
