    Question What is replacing TCCD?

Since all the RAM modules that use TCCD are out of stock, and are probably going to be for a while, what is the next step? I know that the Winbond UTT chips are good but I don't feel like pumping 3.7/8 volts into them for a little better performance than TCCD at lower volts. I'm not sure what's coming out and I wanted to wait to buy new RAM (preferably 2x512) until I knew what the next big chip was. Any ideas what they are or when they're coming out?

I somewhere that you can run dual channel on some motherboards with 3 sticks of ram, except the 2 of the sticks must add up to the size of the 3rd. For example 2 X 256 and 1 512. Then you put the 2 sticks in the same channel and put the single stick in the slot for the other channel, ill try to find the article.

Wow that's pretty interesting. And this can be run with any type of RAM, not just specific modules?

Yeah, a bit O/T. BTW, I tried the UTT (Winbond) and didn't have the best of luck, even WITH the OCZ Booster. (mobo?) Anyway, I'd sure like to see another (cheep) solution myself.

OCZ will be using the same chips in their PC3200-4400 products. This was confirmed by an employee at OCZ over at Xtreme. From the website I saw, it looks like $145 for 2x512MB kit of the PC3200.

I don't know what will replace TCCD, but I'd imagine it will be the best stuff around for a while.

Yep I know that the Winbond UTT is the new BH-5 but like I said I don't feel like putting 3.7/8 volts into it to get a little more out of it than the TCCD at lower volts. Plus you never know if your getting the right UTT...

    http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=368029

So like they said...get TwinMOs if you want Winbond UTT...

I don't think anyone really knows what the next performance chips will be yet. I did see the GSkill rep respond to a comment about TCCD going away with something like "wait till DH-5 comes around the corner". We'll see something soon enough I'm sure.

Nope, this stuff isn't out yet. It might take a while for OCZ's value stuff to clear out before we see them with VX chips.

This is the value stuff that OCZ confirmed uses the WB UTT, same as VX just not tested to o/c.

    http://www.atacom.com/program/atacom...Disp_item2.y=7

    Only $143.

    1) I wouldn't buy from these guys unless I had to.
    2) I would rather get TCCD in the OCZ EL PE REV.2 than ANY Winbond UTT chips on their site since it's sold out everywhere else. Plus from what I've read at Resellerratings of this site, they are liars about what they have in stock.
    3) I am going to wait until the next gen chips of whatever is replacing TCCD... as this thread clearly states
