    Dell Inspiron 600m

I recently just ordered 600m laptop from dell. Im pretty excited cant wait this will be my first personal laptop. I read a bunch of reviews from notebookforums.com and other places. The reviews were pretty nice. I was wondering if anybody here has one what there opinion is of it.

I've got one and it's worked great for me. I do have a problem with my mouse cursor freezing requiring a reboot which bugs me but overall it's been a great lappy.

I purchased mine in June of 2003 and I can still play some games like CC:Generals, Nexus, LOTR: BFME, etc.

That said, I'm starting to shop for a new one.

What would be the best bang for the buck....say store bought, like we have a gateway outlet store here where i live....and compusa/circuit city always has a bunch of open box value stuff. I was going to order , and still might order the same thing as d3fan , the 600m with the 1.6, 64meg ati card, 512 ram and 60 gig hard drive for around 1000$$. Is there any other ones out there that are about the same or any better, being used just for trolling boards, paying bills, using aim and stuff like that....basic things. And maybe a game of ut2k4 or CS couple times a month? Thanks.

If you wait around, you can get deals like what I got (see sig). I got it for ~$550 w/tax & shipping after rebates from Office Depot about 10 days ago. I just added 256 MB myself since it costs half of what they wanted for it! Mine's spec is almost on par with your Dell 600m but costs almost half! Now, I don't know what is "bang for the buck" if that isn't one!

Well i went out to bestbuy and they had a decent open box compaq laptop for under 1000. I believe it was the r3000t model, heres the specs and let me know what ya think.

    pentium 4 3.0 with hyperthreading
    512mb ram
    80 gig hard drive
    15" wide ultra brite screen
    ati 9000 ( i believe this is integrated )

Is something like this going to meet my needs?

I've had one since about July. It's been pretty good to me. It's like, doesn't have a huge screen, which I like. I've had problems with my Bluetooth card. Well, my Bluetooth card has never worked... I just haven't been able to send it out to get it replaced. The keys seem a little sensitive sometimes...

Other than that, I've been very happy.

Cool sounds like it will be well worth it. It just finished up in the testing stage and is now being shipped should expect to get it in a few days.
