In the process of building a fairly quiet/hidden desktop

Somehow in the design of my water cooling system I though about putting all my PC components in a nightstand I currently have my printer on. I'm thinking of setting it up like this

    Printer (top level)
CDROM (top or somehow mounted on the side).

I'm using a bunch of ~ 1600RPM 120mm fans. The drawer is pretty solid wood. That should help dampen the sound a little. It should be less than 30db anyway. Add to that being another 4 or so feet from me.

The following items in the drawer.

    Motherboard

2x120mm ~ 40CFM Fans directly behind the MB (located where the 6800GT gets the best air flow). (out)

Bonneville heater core. To the right of the MB. 2x120mm ~ 40CFM fans attached to the heater core.

2x120mm ~ 40CFM behind the heater core (out)
2x120mm ~ 40CFM fans pulling air in from the bottom front of the drawer (in)

hard drives in drawer next to MB.

    Reservoir

    Bottom Level

PSU, water pump, router, cable modem

Possibly I will raise the reservoir 4-5 inches in the drawer and put the water pump in there too. Creating a very short length water loop. This whole thing clears a whole mess of cables on the floor under my feet and will make it a lot quieter/cooler. It might make my whole watercooling setup cost about $250 but I'll be able to sell my antec P160

Not going to happen with that specific piece of furniture. The drawer is way to small. Maybe I'll look for something else cheap.

    ahhh...woodworking

Find a nice piece so we can begin to help - preferably something with ogee edging and nice bedrail trim. Now that I think of it...my folks got an Orig old Victrola type cabinet, that I actually converted into a stereo rack and storage for VHS tapes and CDs - get this - it's got a Slide out shelf/drawer, located about middle height, behind the two doors, that orig had the turntable on it. The unit stands about 40-42" tall, and is the real deal, and I can imagine how nice it would be to be able to get at a mobo mounted onto that puppy

I was thinking something more like this
    http://www.feldmanfurniture.com/firs...ightstand.html

but - realize, you need it to be (or it should be) either All Real wood, or atleast a plywood carcase, with wood veneers - for strength.

I was really into this drawer concept and furniture modding....
but I was also thinking that anything you put In/On/Around/Attached to the drawer would need to have Slack on any cable/water pipes/etc...not much but some - mainly though so it's tidy when pushed back in, and there's enough slack for clearance when you slide the drawer open

I was thinking dual drawer at first (to keep components separated)
I picked the above pic real quick, just to show a drawer and Door style, which allows the Mobo and other components to up, off the dusty floor area (and that drawer is up a bit ) - and then behind the doors you could put everything else.
I mean even mod the inside of cabinet , so you can put a wooden face plate in there to mount the Optical drives to, - to access them behind the doors.
Let's face it - whatever it is, will be carved up (fan/cabling/cooling fluid tube holes)...so

I'm just running on a concept is all for now

    Edit;
i was looking at the "shipping" cost, and thought it was the "price" doh!

I've migrated to more of a TV stand design. No drawers and more space. Also I'm thinking of mounting the MB vertical to the left side of the stand. That gives me the ability to configure the water setup with very little tubing. I'm thinking about screwing 2 Power supplies to the top. I can use a different PSU for all of the fans Maybe a decent quality 300W one for the fans and pump. There is a possibility my TV stand already in there has enough space to handle the job.

I'm also looking into finding larger fans that can be used to push the air out. Maybe a single low rpm 9" blade instead of a whole lot of 120mm ones.

Ok...just beware when mounting / drilling etc, to ask for some input if needed....remember what I said about the quality of wood (I hate that particle board crud - whether it's melamine, or whatever)...Once you mount stuff (especially to the tops and sides), any vibration can shake it loose and easily strip out the screw mounts, tearing the crappy glued sawdust boards that some call wood (not!) and then you'll either damage the cabinet so much that it'll be of no use anymore - or have to make some ugly mods to hold it all together.
Even plywood with wood veneers can/does have voids, so choose cabinet wisely
Is it possible that since you're in/out of Peru you can get some nice Brazilian rosewood for cheap?, or any of the other exotic Amazon Basin woods?
I mean, I don't know if you have as much crappily made junk there , as we have here in the USA.

I see the shipping on little items... can't image shipping some wood back to me The nightstand was crappily made. But I was not thinking of hanging anything from it. The TV stand is pretty solid.
