I just got my 12" Powerbook!

A couple of clicks and now I'm surfing wirelessly. I'm so happy I got a great deal used plus 512mb of Crucial ram for $820. The Powerbook is in great condition but there is a light scratch on it. Does anyone know to fix it? If that scratch is fixed it looks brand new. It fun to play with for now and I'm really enjoying. The powerbook is a little sluggish maybe because of the 256mb of ram.

For a 1.33 GHz lappy, $860 seems a bit steep... well, as long as you are happy, who cares, right?

This is a powerbook not ibook. I haven't seen a powerbook this cheap as I saw many on Ebay go for over $1000. I could easily sell this on Ebay for $1000. New powerbooks without the extra 512mb still cost around $1300.

Remember clock speed isn't everything

Just like Intel VS Amd. It's the same for Powerbook's cpu VS everything else

For a powerbook, that's a great deal. Hmm, where's the scratch?

Anyone know the difference between a G4 and a G5 in terms of performance? I know the G5 sports an x64

Its a light surface scratch on the top of the laptop. I'll probably get an extended warranty soon and extend it another year with my credit card for free. Here is a link on the differences on G4 and G5:

I love my iBook too. On a laptop, odx just feels so much more... relaxed than windows.

Glad you finally bought one man! My PB is indispensible. I never thought I'd use a Mac as much as my PC, but my PB has made a strong case for it.

If your PB is in good condition, that's a great deal! I used to have a 12" 1.33 PB which I bought brand new for $1000+tax, so you made off well.

People can say what they want about the hardware specs of a Mac and performance, but OS X is more than worth the hit in performance.

Yeah its in great condition so with all the additional stuff I got like memory, case, Applecare and Tiger it comes out to about $1200, which I think is a great deal. Thanks Ramuman for your great little review that lead me to buy the Powerbook. Did you upgrade to a 15" or 17"?

That is just awesome! Actually that is the same model 12" I have. Joy to use, and pretty stable. I also just decided to buy a 512 upgrade of crucial ram, decided to do it since my ram from apple actually turns out to be from miron, and crucial guarantees compatibility and is half the price of getting it from app-hole.

btw , that is an incredible price! I have to say this 12" powerbook is probably the most useful laptop out there, and only second to the 15" powerbook for nice features (light up keypad, pcmcia, bigger screen, 2 so-dimm slots are what I can remember the 15 has).

Yeah overall I don't notice any slow down in much of anything. In osx generally excesive scrolling and window resizing can be a bit slow but that is just because it is doing it smoother and not tearing windows for the most part.

yeah i've got a 12 inch powerbook too. same one.. 1.33.. it's pretty awesome huh ?

i'd put in my vote for maxing out the RAM right from the getgo. OSX loves ram and the more you give it the faster it runs.

tiger is pretty awesome too.

i think i got it from newegg for like 173$..

i'm sure they have come down a little since then.
