    file record segment is unreadable - what does this mean?

    What does "file record segment is unreadable" mean when it comes out on a scan disk?

    Means data may be corrupt, or the drive might be damaged in that area, either logically or physically, I believe.

    You may want to give Spinrite 6 a try:

    It may help ya get the data back.
