Affordable Thingamajig Power Adapter?
Wireless IP Cameras designed for outside use aren't trully wireless because they still need a wire to power them up! There are never used power outlets in my car which allow powering-up of something (vacum cleaner?). Is there a thingamajig adapter that would permit powering up a laptop, IP camera, cell, etc) using the auto's power outlets - with the car not running. Yes, I know there are battery chargers to charge up dead car batteries. I don't know of any battery operated "wireless" IP cameras. Would it be possible to somehow use a laptop's battery - in conjunction with the car's battery to power said cameras to "wirelessly" stream limited motion detected video from the camera in the car to the DVrecorder in the laptop, or to the house receiver/recorder/pc, or internet web page). Alternatively, are there laptop/cell/whatever batteries that can limitedly stream motion detected video for say 8-10 hours? Where's the smiley with crossed-eyes?

I'm not sure I know what you are asking, but you could just get a power inverter that will give you a normal 120V socket. I had one in my suburban so I could easily plug my PS2 in. You can get them pretty much anywhere, probably even Wal-Mart.
It will run off the car battery, but it isn't recommened to do so if you are pulling high wattage for an extended period of time with the car off. If the car is on, no problem. run it as long as you like.

You can also get a universal power supply that works from an auto 12v connection or an aircraft seat connection. The end result is similar to using a 110v/220v/ power supply.

Thanks. The reason you don't know what I am asking is because I don't enough to formulate an intelligent question! After having gone through several hundred pages and camera specs I think I got the wires crossed in my brain and fried it! Some of the descriptions in some of the web pages helped push me over the edge with their lack of clarity. I also mis-spoke too. They do have cameras which operate off of batteries (9V was one) and rechargeable batteries too. The problem is I have no idea how much of a power drain the limited motion detected streaming is going to consume. The end object is to covertly surveil two cars of mine parked on a public strreet which have been, and continue to be, vandalized by using two cameras, one in each car pointing to each other, to transmit AVI data to a recorder in the house. Trees obstruct complete viewing of the cars from the House. No, I won't cut the trees down. I won't, I won't. One alternative is to buy the battery operated wireless cameras and see what happens! Ugh! The other is to see if they (either wired or wireless can be somehow mounted in the trees to get at least a partial view video capture. I think I'm just going to have to accept the fact that the wireless approach, however neat sounding, just isn't affordably practicable. Thanks, guys.

A spare auto sized 12v battery will run a video camera full time for more than a day.
