Thumbs up Just greatly improved temps!

this is no secret, and no real suprise to me....but i just had to show the effects of the side blow hole i just installed. this has dropped cpu temps about 15c during prime95 (now 40c as i type w/ prime going)

just goes to show the benefits of a side intake over the cpu. i used a cd spindle cover cut down and hot glued to on the 4 corners of the fan. not exactly the prettiest, but it does the job well. it may look like there's a gap between the window and the shroud, but it's just an optical illusion because the hole is off center a little. and if you're wondering about a fan grill, it only increases noise so i'm not going to use one.

    you da man

btw - do you have the fan blowing air DOWN onto the CPU (intake) -- or blowing OUT (exhaust), taking the heat away (<--my guess)

nope, always best to have cool outside air blown over the heatsink (intake)

I like it. You know, you could get some of that aluminum framing stuff to make it "prettier". Or even some of that rubber weather stripping stuffs. That would clean up the edges for you.

    Looks good, though!

I bought corsair xms 2 x 1gig its on their list of approved mem, do you think it will boot correctly, or should I stick one stick in then change the mem settings in bios to manual and up the voltages first ? again sorry for hijacking the thread!!

pop em both in and boot up in auto first, then reboot and mess with stuff. at least that's probably the way i'd go about it.

reason I was asking is that there have been some reported boot issues with the A8n-sli Premium boards. and the work around was to put a single stick in...mabey I should start like its gonna work then use the workaround IF i Have to.
