    My Modest HT setup

    First off I like to thank Soupnazi for his help and others who helped with the minor problems I had. I'm surprised how good it sounds with my modest budget. I've tried multiple movies mostly asian because american movies are just remake after remake. What more can I say other than gaming, HDT OTA, DVDs, Divx are awesome to watch and enjoy on this setup. To think I've only had it up to volume 40 on the receiver and sub around 60%. Thanks again to all that helped me!

    Setup:
    32" Syntax Olevia
    Onkoyo TXSR602
    Philips divx 624 player
    Terk antenna
    Infinity Primus 150
    Dayton 12" sub, stands, and cables
    Radioshack HDTV OTA tuner

    Is the TV supposed to be showing widescreen bars on a widescreen tv?

    I'm watching a movie called Seven Swords great movie by the way on the Philips. For HDTV OTA it's full screen. I tried the zooming feature on the Philips but picture quality was fuzzy.

    No sub pics?

    Looks like a great setup! You're very welcome and I'm glad I could help. I love the widescreen TV. How do you like those Primuses for music?

    PS. Are those speaker stands from Partsexpress?
    Spoiler

    I knew someone was going to mention the no sub pic I'll add that later tonight. For music the Primus sound great and I'm planning on hooking up the Ipod Nano through the dock from the receiver. Yes the speaker stands are from Partsexpress and I'll add sand to it later for more weight.

    Pics are a little better but I am watching a movie, so these pics will have to do. I think tomorrow I'll take better when I have time.

    I'm jealous of your TV and speaker stands...

    Out of curiosity, what was your entire budget for that setup?

    I've spent about $850 on my 2.1 audio setup now, including my source (currently the emu 0404). When I get some more money I'll be picking up a DVD player and a HDTV/Projector. Just wanna compare to see how I'm doing, cuz I like your setup!
    Audio Setups:
    E-MU 0404 ---toslink---> Panasonic SA-XR55s ---> Ascend Acoustics CBM170's with Dayton 12"
    E-MU 0404 ---analog---> Little Dot II tube amp ---> Beyerdynamics DT880 or Sennheiser HD280 pros.
    Technics SL-1200 MKII ---> TCC TC-750LC Phono Preamp ---> Panasonic SA-XR55s ---> Ascend Acoustics CBM170's with Dayton 12"

    Thanks and I probably spent about $1800 for the stuff listed! But your audio stuff costs more than mine. I did this on the cheap with quality in mind.

    As I'm realizing, i'll end up spending a lot more than you. I was also trying to do this cheaply, but then I let my crazy spending habits in the way...oh well, I'm happy as hell with what I have. The biggest reason I asked was cuz i looked up that TV, and the MSRP on it was like 2.5k or so, but I'm assuming that was when it was released, so prices would have obviously dropped, and I'd imagine you found a good deal on it. A 32" LCD HDTV can't be cheap.

    Yeah I got it from Target with a 10% off coupon and free shipping. The quality is actually very good compared to other models that cost more and it uses a LG panel. The HDTV OTA looks awesome, which is why I'm canceling my cable and I don't watch a lot of TV either. You could get it cheaper at Amazon.com now with rebates.

    I have got about $1500 in my 3.1 setup right now( including reciever)... My next purchase is going to be tv. I think I am sticking with good ole hidef tube tv as the price is right and I can't get over the quirks of the other technologies right now.....I tell you what this can get to be a VERY expensive hobby....I have got to stop browsing avsforum...

    That's why I don't visit sites like avsforum or head-fi because you'll be constantly upgraded even though you're satisfied with your stuff.
