Sweet dude, have fun with that! I will hopefully be upgrading to X2 early next year. Waiting for the first price drop and Vista (don't feel like going to Pro right now.)

Wow, damn useful post.... Glad you made it, it really adds to the substance of this thread.

Most 3800+ X2's hit between 2.4-2.8ghz. Alot depends on your skill, your ram, and your mobo.

2.4 would make me happy at near stock volts

I got my first rig done in 90 min, win installed in 30 min, and overclocked to 2.3ghz.

Idle temps (bios reading): 34C/95F Stock voltage: 1.4(settings) 1.436(actual)

    SuperPi 1m is 41/40 secs.

    Shouldn't it be around 35secs?

I plan on trying for 2.4ghz but i might be worried about my stock cooling/volts there. Any opinions? Here's my steppings:

    ADA3800DAA5CD
    CCBWE 0541XPMW
    1344859J50865

LOL Oh, and the whole setup cost me 530 bux....2.3 ghz is x2 4500+ (kinda made up #).

    google up

    prime95
    futuremark

those two are basically the only two programs you need to testing stability.

FWIW my 4400+ is a CCBWE also, and i had it to 2.7ghz but it wasn't stable enough for me (& i didn't feel like experimenting) so i bumped it down to 2.5 (250x10) i'm very happy with where it's at and it's completely prime95 stable. 30c idle 44c under prime (thermalright si-120)

super pi 1m is 33/34 secs.

Mine's at 2.55GHz. Both my venice and my X2 topped out at 2.5GHz. I think my mobo is limiting it...

Ok I've done 2.4 ghz torture test (dual prime 95) Core 0 always craps out in 2-5 min.
Doing 2.3 and so far so good. core voltage 1.4v - max allowed(varies from 1.36 to 1.39 on cpuz). Ram is running 1:1 - determined not to be a problem(I think)

A 15% overclock is nothing to sneeze about but I'd love to see 20%. Would a thorough burn in allow that 20%?

Am I on crack, or is 1.4 a good bit lower than what most people overclock with? I thought 1.5-1.55 was more common? I would have expected you to reach a *minimum* or 2.4 based on what I've read about the X2's.

This mobo doesnt allow for higher than 1.4 but I managed to get it game stable at 2.5. The sound craps out after 30 min or so. Any idea why?

1.4v seems shallow for a mobo's max but if you say so that's too bad. i have my 4400 on 1.475v @ 2.5ghz. just get a good cooler and your temps will be better.
