Easiest way to get it done
I wanna get Audio/Video feeds to my Home theatre setup. I don't want to build another PC for this, preferably I would like to see if I can do it by networking some sort of device to do it all for me. I don't know if anything like this exists but I don't see why not.
Total idea. Plug cable into router, run cable to device @ Home theatre location, run apropriate jacks to correct places on receiver and then... duh, duh, da, duh! I can watch HDD stored movies or listen to MP3's or look at pictures or what ever else these things can do. Preferably I would like to keep the cost down. (Budget +/- 100.00 CAD, or as close as I can get.)
Or maybe there is no such device and i will have to build yet another PC to do it for me.

Have you checked the inputs on your TV and receiver?
I've seen some new audio/video equipment with Ethernet ports and firewire ports.
My 3 year old Mitsubishi TV has 5 firewire ports on it for that purpose.

Unfortunetly I only have the standard inputs on my TV, RCA cinch audio/video. and one svideo jack. The idea was I would be able to control the media (of whatever kind) without having to get up and make changes on my PC.

So far the Xbox idea looks best. I am not much of a console gamer so loosing gaming ability is not much of a loss in that respect.

A little above your stated budget, but looks like what you want. Only caveat to that one is that it won't play mp3 files encoded above 192kbps. Not sure why they would limit it in this way, but for some people may not matter. I would've bought one had it not been for that little problem. All my mp3s are encoded above that bit rate so it would be failry useless to me in that regard. It'll do just about everything else you want though.
EDIT...they also have one w/o the DVD player built in for almost $100 less.

There we go... I browsed the site a bit more, and this is what I think I will be getting. (Yours was nice but I don't need DVD, or card reader)

Well, at least that is what looks like what I want, if anyone has any objections or better ideas, I'm all ears, but if not, I think I'll be ordering that one.
