    Post uhm, no sound... why?

I just installed my Sound Blaster Live! card but i get no sound. I tried doing what the manual said, but that did not work. My volume is not muted, it is all the way up, and i have tried my speakers in every single spot on the back of my card. What is up here, why do i get no sound?

P.S. Where can i get that cable to connect my soundcard to my dvd-rom? I ordered OEM and did not get one...

The cable to connect your sound card to your DVD decoder is a simple audio interconnect cable. You should be able to pick one up at your local computer store for about a dollar.

There are no IRQ conflicts or resource conflicts of any kind? What is your setup (other cards) and what slots are your cards in?

Yeah that does smell like an IRQ conflict. Sometimes a quick fix is to throw it into a different PCI slot.

I've seen a few guys install their live cards on pci4 and that solved the problem. Also when you move it, Reset Configuration Data in the PnP/PCI Configuration page of the BIOS after moving your card. Hope that helps.

Hmm, i manually set it up so that my NIC card and my sound card share IRQ 4. Still no sound. I guess ill try moving the card now...

I moved the card to PCI slot 4 like you said, still no sound.
