don't know what to do
well i'm getting a laptop in a few hours...great!
well i was looking around some stores like a few hours ago, and i have no idea what to get, what to do, and what to do if anything bad happens
i was looking at a laptop with these specs:
1.mobile amd athlon(or just athlon 64, i forgot) with 4000+
2.100gig hard drive
3.1 gig of ram
4.256megs of video memory(ati radeon)
all for 1249, it also had some stickers by the touch pad that said something about games, and it even had 2 pc games to play from, to try out.
well it sounds pretty good to me, and right now i'm leaning toward it cause it had 1gig of ram around 80 gigs of memory. had a 64amd athlon processor, and so i think it's pretty good.
now, do any of you have something to say about this? i'm worried because my sister got a desktop gateway, and it messed up...and gateway didn't want to repair it, then they sent a mother board and a whole bunch of stuff...btw, my sister had insurance on it.
now, i'm not set on the gateway, i'm just leaning toward it.
does anyone have any tips to consider? anything to help me buy at a store? like if gateway's a good brand if not, what i can look for and stuff like that?
Really, i just want it to last...i'm going to be using it for many things, gaming, downloading video, basically for multimedia

If possible i would look around online. Dell and the other manufactures always seem to be having great deals.
I really cant reccomend going somewhere like best buy and just settling with which ever they may have in stock.

However, 1250 for a 4000+, 1gb RAM and a 256mb card (I'd guess an x700 or 6600) in a 17" case (don't think there are 939 CPUs in 15" cases) is a pretty good price.

It also depends what you plan to do with it. If you're basically looking for a desktop replacment that you don't plan to use wheile travelling (like on a plane or during car rides or anything), but rather as a computer that's easy to get from place to place, that sounds like a great machine.
But if you plan on doing a lot of travelling, I'd look for something smaller and lighter with better battery life.
