It's about time. Don't know what they are waiting for. Hopefully they've made like 10 new courses since beta. They need to add a better way of finding others to play with, like a lobby or something like that.

I wonder if the Wind in the game is always going to be unknown. You can tell there is Wind in the beta if you've played often at all. Like sometimes you can start a game and hit balls at the driving range, the balls will always go 290+ yards, then you can restart and you can't drive more than 260+ yards no matter what you do. Same thing with the ball going left and right sometimes when it doesn't seem like it should. So it seems like there is Wind in the beta but they don't show you what it is. Tell me i'm not the only one who's noticed this? I know no one will hit the ball perfectly straight every time, but there is definitely some elements in the game that will change your shot from hole to hole.

Yeah there was wind, and you could sort of tell how bad it was by this little almost unnoticable line somewhere on the screen...

well I got a little bored so I kinda browsed the games files to see if I could tinker with it...and sure enough...you can...you could create new holes yourself if you wanted but it'll be a little difficult...more on that...

the holes are stored as a heightmap...basically it's a texture where the varying levels of black and white determine how high or low that part of the terrain is...so I just did a randomized one to see if it works and it did:
http://bumpmapped.shackspace.com/golf.jpg - I used the first hole as a test level...
http://bumpmapped.shackspace.com/golf2.jpg - $10 to anyone who can make it in

the terrain texture is also just one giant texture so I did a little painting
    http://bumpmapped.shackspace.com/golf3.jpg

there's also another texture that stores the friction levels of the greens and fairway...

unfortunately I haven't found a way to add/remove the tree models from the course...there's a file called object.lvl and that stores what model goes where and stuff like spawn points for everything and hole location...you can switch models and hole location on different levels by copying the existing file with a different hole so you could have like hole 4 on hole 2's terrain :P

it wouldn't be perfect especally since you're working with a set hole location with set objects...but tomorrow I'm gonna try and create a new hole and see what I come up with
