    Best Web Site Creation Program

My 70 year old grandfather has a goal of getting his toy train collection online. I've been trying to help him, but at the same time I usually use Html/javascript on web development and I don't want to have to detail the whole thing for him. I'm looking for a simple yet powerfull app to create a nice website. I'll be there to polish it all up, just as long as it maybe allows him to create all the different pages and directories. As for as his skill level, he's an email/word guy and something that was real user friendly would be great.

I was thinking maybe dreamweaver? I've never used it but I've heard good things. Money isn't really an issue, and he's running XP on a ~1ghz rig.

    thanks

Yes, my recommendations - use Dreamweaver, it have huge feature list, and good visual development tools. Also takes few time to become familiar with it.

What's the creative level of your grandfather? I wouldn't waste my money on something fancy with all the bells and whistles if they weren't going to be used. If your grandfather is going to create a simple web site with some pictures of his trains and some text, then Word might work just fine for him since he's already familiar with it. Otherewise I'm sure there a several free web page creation utilities that have a simple, familiar fee like Word that he would be happy to use.

On the other hand, your grandfather might be one of the fer computer savvy seniors in the world and love the fancier software. I just don't want him to dive in head first and become overwhelmed.

    Front Page is another option.

I think Front Page is easier for novice users compared to Dreamweaver. However, I personally use Dreamweaver.

I've been using Frontpage since 95 and it's only gotten better over the years. The Dreamweaver interface is highly illogical to me, too Mac-y. I would think to a standard Windows user FP is probably the best bet.

I thought Frontpage has been abandoned recently by MS?

Not that I know of... I thought they just renamed it to Microsoft Expressions or something.

Yeah, FrontPage is going to be replaced by this.

Here is a free CTP Trial, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Worth a Try, (make sure to look at the Hardware requirement).

There are also few freewares that are simple to use and can author a nice humble site, http://www.nvu.com/index.php

BTW. Before you start with code, you should choose the Web Hosting solution that you are going to employ. Some Hosts might be better off with one authoring program, some with other, some even give you free authoring program, or online page assembly.
