Please Help Us To Save Ana

I am posting this on behalf of our friend and longtime administrator/moderator, Pete Senarighi (CompguyPete). If you visit webedeveloper.com, or virtualdr.com, you most likely know him.

In June of 2006 Pete learned that his 11 year old daughter, Andriana (or Ana), has a brain tumor, and that because of its position and intertwining with the brain and brain stem, it is inoperable.

Therefore, the only treatment option open to them is chemo-therapy. Unfortunately, being self-employed, Pete does not have health insurance, and is currently faced with more than $25,000 in medical bills from the battery of tests performed, which he simply does not have the means to pay.

Andriana has begun chemo-therapy, and Pete has applied for various types of financial assistance, but these are by no means guaranteed, nor are they timely solutions, so we are asking those who visit our forums if they would like to assist.

Toward that end we have set up a paypal account and secured a domain name, oneana.com, where visitors can make donations via paypal, and help this family through this very difficult time. Thank you.

    Sincerely, JPnyc

Thats not fun. I watched my dad go through Chemo... its not pretty. He was too far along for it to be very helpful. All it did was cause him to bleed to death. He didn't last long after he told them to stop putting new blood in him.

This will not work with Cancer but I remember hearing something on the radio for a new non evasive proceedure for tumors. Basically they shoot two signals through the body (microwave?) and it only destroys the part where the two intersect. Thats some pretty cool stuff. I'm not sure how accessable that stuff is now.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Pete and his family.

I’ve known Pete for 7+ years. He was my go to guy when I first became a site admin. Used to talk with him on the phone when serious issues came up.

Thanks you guys. I'm happy to say that the JM forums family has stepped up in this crisis. Many people have contributed both money, and helping to get the word out by posting the links and putting them into their signatures on other forums. I'm so proud of all of us I could blotch.

best wishes for Ana - and anybody with kids can only imagine the process ... donations should NOT be short sighted or short changed - this is somebody's daughter ... what if it were your own

My prayers and thought are all for Pete and his family in these trying times. Should we gather and form a pool here for Pete? Someone volunteer, preferably a mod or admin, so that we can collect a tidy sum for Pete.....just let me know, I'd be first to donate 100USD to this pool. I can get my nephew to remit the money via PP if that's acceptable/possible.

Hey JP, I just thought of it... what if you list all the donors' id's on the site to encourage MORE people to donate??

How would we know who donated? Also some of the donors aren't members of any of the forums. That's Pete's site, not mine, so he'd have to update it. I think he's got his hands kind of full at the moment. Although I'm sure he'd let me have access to it.

Oh... well, if Pete trusts you, you could get his approval and get first name & last initial to be listed (PayPal receipts should have all the info). It's just an idea and the growing list will be a very encouraging thing to see... just an idea.

AFAIK PayPal info does not translate to user handles on the forums.
Any list would be meaningless other than knowing the number of donors.
It is work that no one needs.
Better may be a goal thermometer showing donation totals.

I think he plans to show the totals, he's just been kinda busy. I could write a visual "meter" using javascript.
