    Thoughts on these 22" LCDS

Well I have been thinking about getting these monster Dells for a while now, but I have such a hard time throwing that much money at it. http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...opnav=&browse=

Any thoughts on these two 22"s I'm drawn towards the viewsonic for the name but just looking spec wise the sceptre is looking better. I know specs can be deceiving so I thought I would hit you guys up for optinions

They are much cheaper than the 24" inch so they are pretty appealing. I might jump on one soon here. Unfortunately the resolution is the same as 20"
    screens.

I have seen and used (for short periods of time) a few Sceptres being gamed on that were higher response times and they seemed fine to me, but I am a pretty hard core CRT FPS gamer.

I have been holding out forever with dual 17" trinitrons and it's been getting harder and harder to hold on and not buy something new.

Actually, I've gamed on LCD with 16ms and 8ms response time and I fail to see any ghosting, but then, I'm over 40 and my eyes ain't as good as they used to be. Don't go for 30" or bigger screens as once you go big, there's just no turning back. For myself, I can't even consider any monitor that <30" in size, it'd be too small for me. Between the two, the Sceptre looks better coz of contrast ratio and the extra HDMI port.....not sure about their reliable when compared to Viewsonic coz I don't have Sceptre in my part of the world (like, what else is new?! )

Here's an example of what I'm used to now, 37" baby!!! -

    Edited to include pic....
Oh yes, I believe Samsung has released 19" - 22" WS models that are HDCP compliant as well. You might wanna check those out.

Well I ordered the Sceptre. I figure the lower resolution could be a good thing.
This way I won't have to constantly have a bleeding edge computer to play games at the native resolution.

Bummer though for windows and such, but I can always still use a second monitor to help with that.

Hey and it's Costco so I can always walk in and return the thing if I don't like it.

I always feel bad about buying things the next day. I'm the king of buyers remorse.

I think all the 22" panels are the same anyways, TN panels, so they should be fine for FPS. Just watch for backlight bleeding.

I mean I used to play UT2003 with you back in the day on a CRT and I wouldn't move to a LCD until recently when I picked up a 20" LCD. I'm pretty happy with gaming on it. There doesn't seem to be any ghosting or tearing at all.

    Hard core FPS gamer?

When you say no "tearing" on lcd, are you running with vsync enabled? I find that's only way I can play on my lcd is to enable it...

I don't see why people are so anal about LCD specs. I'm playing games on my Thinkpad T60p at 1600x1200 and don't even notice how much the LCD sucks.

I'm not so anal about LCD specs as they have come a long way, but I am concerned about getting a good product for my money since I tend to hold onto my monitors for a long time.

I was just poking some fun at you since you wouldn't join up with out UT2003 clan back in the day. You know... some of the old timers went back to play UT2003 BR, myself included.

    XJ,
I just recently upgraded from a 19" Sceptre (went to a 20" Samsung WideScreen) . I really liked the Sceptre! I gave it to my dad for his grandchildren that live with him. They have 2 computers, 1 Dell 4600 with 19" Dell LCD. The other computer is an older computer which is the one that got the Sceptre. My dad's wife and one of the girls commented on how sharp the picture on the Sceptre was. I had to agree, the picture looked much sharper than the Dell LCD. I can't remember the model number on the Dell LCD. My point is, I think you'll like the Sceptre just fine!

Yeah I saw you mention it a while back in the games forums. I'm just insanely
busy with work right now haven't had much time for gaming. How are you guys setting up games? I don't have a copy of ut2003 now but I might pick one up if I see it for cheap.

Glad to hear it Bugspop1. I wonder if it is going ot have the glossy screen not sure I'm a big fan of that since they don't seem to be as good with glare.

Saw this is coming out, but probably going to be more than I want to spend on a monitor http://www.sceptre.com/Products/LCD/...x24wg_Naga.htm

Well I got my Sceptre today. I set it up at work to take a quick look at it and.... stuck/dead pixel Of course this happened because this is my first jump into the LCD world :P

So it seems like I have read before that some stuck pixels can fix themselves like certain colors meant certain things as to whether it was dead or stuck. Or I could just be crazy.

Anyway it's about 3 1/2 inches in from the left site almost center heightwise

Any thoughts? I think it is light blue, but it could be white and my eyes are playing tricks on me.

edit: there may be light at the end of the tunnel.... http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-P...an-LCD-Monitor
    I can only hope.

Other than the dead pixel it's looking nice so far but I won't be able to fully judge it till i get it home to test it more thoroughly. The stand is kinda crapy ,but I knew that was going to be the case and have already planed to pickup an adjustable one.

Hmmm, you did buy it from Costco right? If you make a big fuss about it, will they exchange it for you?

How's the screen aside from that stuck pixel? Any backlight bleeding?

I just ordered the Sceptre this morning for my lil bro's birthday present. He turns 11 next month.

As for returns, yeah you can return anything from Costco.com to the retail store for a full refund including shipping cost.
