    Post Freeze on startup

    Hallo,

I run Win98 a T-Bird 750 with 32M GeForce, which is loverley, but occasionally (about one time in 4) it freezes on startup.
It gets to the turquoise screen before user login and freezes, with a 'fringe' of short green vertical lines at the top of the screen.
Any ideas on what may cause it and what I can do about it?
I don't really know where to start.

    Cool

A good way to start troubleshooting this problem is to go to start, run, type: "msconfig" without quotes and hit enter. Go to the start-up tab. This is a list of all the software that starts up on your computer. You can probably get rid of everything other than Explorer and Systray. Leave those there!! Just unclick what you do not want to boot. Be carefull though. Things like your anti-virus can be disabled here. You can disable a couple at a time to narrow it down to the program causeing your problem. You are not deleteing anything you are just disableing it from starting up with windows. Sometomes start-up programs can cause problems so this should be an effective sollution. If you disable something you should not have just go back and re-enable it. Nothing you do is permanent. Good Luck!!

Thanks a lot. I shall have a look at that when I get the chance.
