What microsoft needs to do to kill the ps3. Am i right?

In my opinion the 360 could become the ish and destroy sony with nothing more then adding alittle more features to the dashboard like the ability to become a home theather pc. If i could stream hd xvids to my hdtv from my nas system there will be no reason to own a htpc so for $400 bucks i get sick a gaming system plus a sick hd-dvd/home theather system. The 360 already plays regular dvds and hd-dvds with incredable quality and allows you to stream wmv, so all they need to do is give us codec pack and boom the 360 has become one sick *** system even if i dont ever play a game on it again.

What do yous think.

Please add any and all ideas that could improve there system without releasing a new system.

I think people buy game systems to play games.

If they really want to kill the PS3, offer a Gears of War bundle this spring. Or try to get MGS4 (as is rumored) or otherwise get more Japanese developers onboard.

For its time, thats what a modded xbox basically was...a $300 HTPC.

Once a 306 mod chip comes out (if ever) hopefully we'll see the same results.

Yeah but that so yesturday. I mean yeah i want the best games and all but after using xbox live and dl those hd trailers and seeing how they look on my pops 1080p plasma, especially after the fall patch gave us 1080p support i find myself using my 360 to watch dvd's stream familyguy episodes and all sorts off other ****. I dont want just a gaming system anymore.

they should have a gears of war bundle out now...I'd be all over that...but instead I'll probably just wait for black friday for the buy a 360 and get a free game at circuit city thing

Perfection, except for those of us (me) who are too cheap to buy the keyboard/mouse and end up getting smoked all the time cause we are still using the analog controls

I think all they have to do is get some of the bigger franchises over to the xbox. I mean....they are getting the next Resident Evil. If they could get some Final Fantasy and Metal Gear games over they would win. Regardless of whether you like these games or not, there are many people who buy the console that has them. Look at Grand Theft Auto.....

For me it is the system that has the best games....and for me that is not a franchise. Gears is a step in the right direction, but it will definitely become a staple for the xbox. I expect to have a Gears 2 in about 2 years. Others like Lost Planet and such are new projects by big companies. Something fresh and from differing genres. FPS are fun, but sometimes you wanna play something else. I would like to see more strategy stuff on here. Let's hope for Culdcept to make it to the states.

The extra stuff is nice...but I don't care. I can do all that extra stuff on my PC. I built a HTPC out of my old computer and I will continue to do that until the consoles can do it better...and they can't. They need to do something new. I don't need another PC. XBOX live arcade is something new, and it is also a tremendous success. I have spent at least 100 bucks on arcade games. Micro rapes on the other hand.....step in wrong direction. These are the franchise games trying to get us to buy stuff that has been in the previous iterations all along.

I used to want them to do this, but now I don't. I have hand/arm injuries that make it really painful to play games with mouse, which is why really started getting into consoles in the first place. The 360 controller doesn't hurt my hands whereas a mouse does. I'm actually really enjoying using the controller now that I'm getting used to it. I think that also would create too big of a skill gap that would turn off a lot of gamers who don't want to use the mouse/keyboard.

if it could play divx movies and xvids i would get rid of my phillips and just use it. Because My logitech remote works on the 360

Sony already did M$'s job for them.

I went for an interview today at a place that does custom home theater installations and while waiting I was reading a magazine called "widescreen review", in it they quoted merrill lynch as stating that the PS3 costs roughly $900 to make, $350 of that comes directly as a result of the blu-ray drive - also, the cell processor costs $230. They speculated that Sony could potentially have a much larger volume of consoles to ship, and take a larger share of the market by releasing the PS3 earlier and without the blu-ray drive - using a dvd drive instead and later releasing either an add on or a blu-ray edition. This would allow sony to price the PS3 very close to the 360. Paramount and Disney cited the PS3 as the reason they were backing blu-ray, anticipating the PS3 to be a big seller and therefore bring blu-ray into a large number of homes....bad decision there.

i actually bought my xbox1 because it was an awesome htpc/media extender. i didnt buy it for the games.

if they did this to the 360, i'd jump all over it. right now i'm just being patient to see who puts out the better games. right now i'm leaning to MS intead of Sony. wii is no contest. i love all the nintendo franchises, so i'm getting a wii for sure.
i think blue dragon and trusty bell will be the killer games that push me over to the 360.

you guys are forgetting that you can download HD movies via the xbox360 starting 11/22. so there won't be any .avis playing on it in the near future.

also most people buy consoles to play games, not movies. not everyone is technically savvy like us. not everyone knows what xvid or divx is anyways.
