This is why I went straight ahead and bought a premium version. The core set isn't really a consideration at all if you intend to buy add-ons for it.

The wireless thing ? I just used CAT5, connected it to my router. I agree that the Xbox 360 wireless reviever is priced unfairly, it isn't worth half the money.

If it wasn't for the wireless adapter's price and the competition's ability to add in your own third party hard drive if need be. I would deem the 360's hardware just nice.

i mean, isnt that the whole point of the premium bundle? so that i wouldnt have to waste $$ on all these addons? if thats the case i would rather pay $600 for an platinum whatever bundle that has everything built in like the ps3

Uhm and the PS3 will not have expensive add-ons? Yeah right, I am sure with a few extra toys (at least in the beginning) it will push the PS3 price into the sky as well!

It has always been like this with consoles. Buy the console on the cheap and get ripped off with higher game prices and gear.

im sure it will.. its just that a $600 PS3 comes with a Blu-Ray drive, 60gb HDD and WiFi built... a $400 X360 Premium comes with just a 20gb HDD plus $200 for the HD-DVD drive and another $120 for wifi... for people like me who want/need the HD drive and wireless, the PS3 ends up being cheaper

I agree with that. But Microsoft in the first place wasn't planning to sell us cheap HD-DVD drives. They really did that in response to Bluray movies.

Trust me, 20 Gb is just nice for 360 needs. People who need more than that should be somewhat wasteful. No one keeps 10+ demos on his rig at any given time. However, more space doesn't hurt, so its a matter of personal preference.

Yeah but what if Blue Ray fails in the long run? At least with the 360, you get the choice. And should blue ray suceed, well you can always buy the PS3 once the price comes down a bit. Everybody happy again.

Personally, right now, it makes sense to wait and see which format becomes strong. Hell, the majority on this planet still use VHS to record, DVD has just about become the standard to play movies in most homes. With everything becoming more expensive these days, people will not go out and do a another Betamax, Video 2000 or VHS war.

If you pick up like every XBOX 360 add on, it's like $500.

If there's anything worth slamming, its the wireless adapter. The price on that thing is bloody murder, its only worth half the price at the very most.

It's funny, I find myself manipulating the controller as if the wire was still there. You know how every once in awhile you'll give a wired controller a flick to let out slack on the cord? I still do that.

NO NO NO, you need at least a $200 dollar case and minimum $130 for PSU and don't forget that your keyboard, mouse, case and speakers can last 10 years, over several upgrades.
