How to put older version of windows on new one?
Please people i really need to reinstal windows!!!
All i have is windows 98 cd and Preloaded version of win98 se on my computer i have to reinstall my windows but when i put upgrade win 98 cd stupid microsoft says that i already got better version of windows and i cant reinstall it.
I tryied to unistall windows from install/unistall but it wasnt there
Any ideas my u know any secrets or cracks how to destroy that stupid message? Pleae help me please!!!

if you dont care about losing all your data, back it up, then reformat your hard drives with FAT32, pop in the Win9x startup disk, then when you get to an a prompt, type a:/setup. Install the windows you want from there

If it's preloaded, there is probably a subdirectory under the Windows directory the OS was installed from. I'm not sure how to find it, but shouldn't be too hard if you look for it. You can reinstall by running setup from that directory.

I have found with all 9x windows that it pays to "start from scratch" and F disk then reinstall the older version.
I had ME on and tore out all the system files; registry files (backed them up first - of course) and reinstalled the older version 98SE. I found that some very strange things occurred which reminded me of previous times I went from the new to the previous version.
After much to-ing and fro-ing I bit the bullet backed up essential files and went from F disk to a full reinstall of 98SE.
All my probs seem fixed. For a microsoft operating system that is
