Ram Decision, big difference with timings?

    4-5-4-15 DDRII 800
    OCZ Platinum XTC 2GB - $272 + tax

    4-4-4-15 DDRII 800
    OCZ Platinum XTC Rev. 2 2GB - 291 + tax
    http://www.canadacomputers.com/index...70&cid=RAM.475

    5-5-5-15 DDRII 800
OCZ Limited Special Ops Edition 2GB (suppose to be gamers choice but whats with timings?) $280 + tax
    http://www.canadacomputers.com/index...21&cid=RAM.475

There's also DDRII 900 Special Ops edition, for $300+tax

I just want to know if the timings make big difference and whats with that Special Ops being so high.

Would it be safe for me to just go with the 4-5-4 Platinum rev.1? I know this is kinda short notice but I'm getting this today it's 1:50pm now probably gonna go around 304 afternoon or whenever i get some feedback, whichever comes first.

Thank you all. The rest of my system is in my sig.

Those timings on the spec ops are high, unless there's some odd reason for it I'd avoid them. If the DDRII 900 are also that high, I wouldn't recommend them.

I'd go with the Rev 2. Timing is slightly lower, but really I'd go for them because any kinks with rev1 have been worked out (you would assume).

Ah, lol damn I was hoping for Rev. 1 recommendation lol $30 difference for a 4-5-4 to 4-4-4, I figured the only diff was the timing...does it mean they fixed something that was wrong, or maybe it's just like going from E6300 conroe to E6400 deal? like there's nothing wrong they just pushed it further?

There's probably nothing wrong with Rev 1, but Rev 2 will probably run a bit smoother or be a bit more stable. My logic is that for that small of a timing difference alone, they probably wouldn't bother with changing it and making a new revision. Since they did, I think they might have changed something else that's more significant (be it errors or something else). You might want to check OCZ's forums and see if there's any mention of what changed from Rev1 to Rev2.

Hhmm well there's a $32 MIR so I might just do that and get same price as rev 1 and get rev 2. Yea I think I'll go with Rev two, i didn't think of it that way.

Well I ended up buying this OCZ Platinum Rev.2

    http://www.canadacomputers.com/index...70&cid=RAM.475

Works great, haven't tried ocing my cpu yet as it's running around 48-58C, which is a little high for E6300 but yea, I'm very happy with ram and works just great at 2V 4-4-4-15

    BF2 Runs perfect
    So does BF2142 Demo

Yeah, BF2142 is a great game, especially now that it's a little less buggy.

What cooler are you using on the CPU, because 58 is pretty high, even on full load and OC'd. I wouldn't recommend OC'ing if you're already getting up to 58 on stock speeds.

    Problem with new ram.

Well ChaosEnsues, the cooler is just stock E6300 cooler, I cleaned off some dust from my front of the case at the intake fan, blew off the dust from the cpu heatsink, and took off fan control so now it's always at full speed instead of 900 or so that smartfan was doing. Now it's down to low 40's into 52-55 at full load. I haven't overclocked it, I had it running at 2.13 but now it's back at stock.

I have a problem with this new ram though. I tried running Prime95 and it fails after like 10 seconds of running, gives 0.5 answer when rounding is suppose to be below 0.4. That's what Prime 95 tells me when it fails.

I don't know what the problem is, cpu is at stock speeds, Ram is set at 4-4-4-15 timings like it's suppose to be, and I tried every voltage for ram from 1.9 to 2.1v, no difference.

Do I have a DOA? Everything else works fine though... I should probably make a new thread for this.
