Looking for HTPC setup for my master bedroom...

Well I am in the market for some new things, I just picked up a 50" panel to hang on my wall, however I do not have a multimedia setup for that display.

    I am looking for...

    1. Speakers (Fronts, Rears, Center, Sub)
    2. Receiver
    3. Mounting hardware

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

I would suggest an onkyo reciever. Whats your budget for this?

And for budget speakers I would recommend www.htd.com. The performance to cost ratio on these things is amazing. I have a set of level 3s and they are awesome. Since you plan on mounting on the wall you might check out the flat panel speaker line.

I have about $3000 to spend on the accessories, but wanted to see what else to get So I am pretty open. I dont want overly large speakers as they will take up more room then I want to provide.

I have been looking at the Infinity P150? or so bookshelf.

I'm not a huge fan of infinity myself. I think you end up paying a lot of money for the name, but thats just me. They are pretty nice speakers though.

I've been doing a lot of research on this front recently too. I've pretty much settled on the Onkyo 804 -- killer system for the price. The Yamaha 5990 is close, but it's gotten a couple bad reviews on reliability.

I can't help with speakers because I'm going for in-ceiling -- 3 pair, 1 center plus my existing subwoofer for real 7.1.

My other receiver is an Onkyo, so I did want to stick with the maker. I love it

Not really a fan of Yamaha products, except their dirt bike :P

I think pretty much everyone under 50 has caught on to Bose now. The only people buying that stuff are grandpas who want to look like they know what they're talking about when they really don't (e.g., BSers -- or both my grandfathers )

I am not interested in Bose, My family owned the 901 series when they were first released. Was not to pleased with it...

The Bose Wave Radio is actually pretty good.

Any other suggestions on speakers? Bookshelf prefer?

FWIW, most decent receivers come with this capability now. The Onkyo I just set up last week had this and I got very familiar with the setup function since I was installing speakers and moving things around a bit at first. Just plug in the mike and it runs a couple test sounds through each speaker. It automatically sets delays based on distance and also frequency cutoffs depending on your speakers.

Everyone gets that way. May last turner was a Kenwood that lasted over 10 years as a main piece. I've just spent 4 weeks reading every review I could find in the sub-$1000 range, so I'm up to speed now. But 6 months from now? Eh, in the dark again.
