External HDD's drag and drop?

i have my raptor as my OS drive and a 250 gig Seagate as a dump drive (absolutely NO ties to the OS drive, simply storage). i want to get an external (haven't decided between the WD and Seagates) so i can cut down *some* heat in my SFF. when i decide on one and plug it in can i simply select everything on the spare and drag and drop it into the external or is there a size limit that would prohibit me from transferring all 170gigs at one time?

running xp pro if that means anything.

It shouldn't limit you... it will take a while though.

I have a Shuttle case with a Raptor internal drive... currently using a Western Digital MyBook Premium 500GB over firewire as my external data drive (music, DVD rips, CD library and reformatting archive, and *ahem* certain movie collections that have become a compulsive habit).

It's really as easy as plugging the drive in, and just dragging-and-dropping the files you want to move. Definitely go for it.

cool thanks guys. my cpu fan header went bad on the mobo so i have to have the cpu fan plugged into the only available header left so the fan is in an always max state. and while i havent had any heat problems yet i can;t imagine an hdd, then a raptor then an optical can be all too healthy.
