    Cant remove desktop icon from uninstalled app in Vista.

    so i tried out the free version of Gametap today on Vista. unfortunately Vista doesn't seem to like when you uninstall an app before removing the shortcut from the desktop. it keeps telling me the file it points to can't be found ( yeah cause i UNINSTALLED it) and won't let me delete it. besides reinstalling the app to work around this, any ideas?

    mmm would it be possible (not sure about vista) to remove the reg key from the registry? Works on XP for program files, etc etc

    where would that be buried? id assume somewhere under software and just nuke whatever says gametap?

    I never had the problem before doing that. Maybe for some reason part of the program is still running. Have you checked the task manager? If not I guess you could boot into safe mode and delete from there.
