    Dell 700m memory upgrade???

    i have a dell 700m but want to upgrade to 2gb....my question is....can i use faster memory for my notebook???? oem is pc2700 ddr333. any body have any experience using faster memory and does it make it faster in anyway???

    7-Band EQ (hardware) not software
    Sony MiniDisc (This is not a Sony Computer)
    80GB Western Digital (8MB Cache)
    6GB Western Digital (Backup Drive)
    10 System Fans (Use to be 13)
    100MB Zip Drive
    500 Watt Home Stereo System (NOT the shitty systems that come in a bundle at Best Buy or the computer speakers that run some much wattage, this is something the all the neighbors call the police on you at the sametime b/c of the powerful level of BASS)
    400 Watt Power Supply
    (Soon to Dynamat the case b/c of excessive noise from the fans)
    (Also soon to get SATA hard drives)

    I don't think most human beings can tell the difference between pc2700 or pc3200....Odds are that pc3200 will run in it and since it costs the same, you might as well get it...Just don't mix it with slower ram.

    I put in put in pc3200 in it and it runs fine.
    not that I want the speed it's just the same price as pc2700
    so why not.

    I don't think anyone will notice any difference. besides playing games. and since the video on the 700m is crap playing game on it is pointless.

    tho I do love my 700M ... ex 700m I just sold it recently for money to get the 1330 XPS.

    The speed rating on memory is just the maximum speed the module can handle. It doesn't mean the system will run it at that speed. In this case, the computer will likely clock the memory exactly the same whether you install PC2700 or PC3200.

    Putting higher-performance memory in a computer that won't use it is like installing high-performance parts on a Hyundai Accent. Sure, they'll work, but they won't miraculously make you go any faster.
