mouse and keyboard stopped working in BF2

I was playing for a bit and after a match it went the the server screen instead of loading the next match. No big deal...I'll just go into another match. I went to another server and when it loaded up with the spawn screen my mouse and keyboard would't work. I had to ctr alt del out of it. I tried another server and I still get the problem. The game does not crash as I can still hear stuff and sometimes see people moving in the map screen just no mouse or keyboard. I like this game, but the bugs are killing it. Any ideas?

I tried mouse drivers, nforce drivers, and video drivers siince they needed an update anyway. Still doesnt work.

I should also mention that I am using a logitech 510 and logitech media something keyboard (cheap one).

Well I tried a reinstall and it still doesnt work. This is so wierd. All my other games work just fine and I was playing Bf all morning and now it won't work. The menus work fine but as soon as I get to the loadout screen I have no control.

That is crazy, have you tried closing all background apps? Its possible that something is taking focus of your mouse/keyboard...

I got it to work again....when it kicked me outta game it messed up my controls. When I went to look under the controls they were all blank. I put em back to default and it worked. Now just gotta get em all back to where they were.

I realize this is an very old thread however I am having the same problem and thought someone may have found the cure?

Ive uninstalled\reinstalled, reinstalled DirectX and replaced all my drivers... so far no help.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

When I went to look under the controls they were all blank. I put em back to default and it worked.

In addition to that certain services can produce a conflict w. some 3d software. For example I've found the ATK Keyboard Service found in Asus motherboards cause havok for the mouse/kb in some 3d program(s) if running at the same time.

Winxp: start/settings/control panel/administrative tools/...

You may want to check and see if there is anything there unnesecary, but I would check a good guide first as there is quite a list of possibilities there.

Had this problem myself a few times with BF2, what happens is that somehow the game loses all of your keyboard and mouse settings in the options menu. If you were to go to the control setup, you would see that all settings are blank. This is why the mouse and keyboard work in the menu, but don't respond when joining a game.

Simply reset all of your controls to the default layout (hit the button at bottom that says something along those lines), and then update your personal changes.
