    cod4 - slow multiplayer

hey guys, just got cod4 and while the game runs great in single player, when i run multiplayer the frame rate takes a hit. Even on the lowest graphical setting it still runs slow.

Patch 1.4 is applied, and the game is installed on a fresh xp installation.

If it runs fine on single player, and slow on multiplayer, you need to get a better ISP.
High speed internet is a must for playing online games.
When you play online, do you download stuff in the background at the same time ?

no, its not my isp. Other online games run fine. I've noticed my cpu usage goes through the roof on multiplayer though. Both cpus are running at or near 95% all the time in multiplayer and only 60-70% in single player. Single player settings are much lower than multi too.

And no, nothings running in the back ground. My Pronz is already completed.

Check to make sure Specular Lighting is turned off in options. I'm not sure if this is even an option in multiplayer but before I got my 8800GT this option caused some serious slowdown.

EDIT: And make sure v-sync is off.

The increased cpu usage seems to be a problem from punk buster. Still trying different things.

OOF! Stupid punk buster. That program hurts more people than it helps. Let us know if you find a solution, my best friend has some terrible cpu issues when it comes to his games with punk buster, especially on his dual core machine. sublim21, since you stated "both cpus" above, we can assuem you're on a dual core system, yes?
