Slackware 8.0 (7.2?) released.
The slackware-current tree has merged into a stable release being dubbed Slackware 8.0 (even though it was originally slated to be slackware 7.2).
This version of Slackware includes the 2.2.19 and 2.4.5 kernels, XFree 4.1, KDE 2.1.2, and more... It also contains GCC 3.0 for those that want it.
For those that use Nvidia... the drivers work great, and anti-aliasing is supported in KDE.

Does Xfree 4.1 offer any performance increase over 4.0.3? Cause i (doh!) just bought Suse 7.2 yesterday. :-)

Damn, thanks for the news bro lol ever since I got my new computer, I havent beena ble to run Slack, could only get the slack-current running at the time, and didnt really care for it so far so I went to Mandrake 8, and running that now. Now that Slack8 is out and gold, time to go back to _the definitive Linux distro_, Slackware

I'm a big fan of slackware. It's just so much cleaner and streamlined than all the other distros, IMO.
Although their 8.0 release isn't anything to wild for. I've already upgraded my kernel, I have xfree 4.1 and a host of other enhancements to my system. I'm betting most other slackware users have aswell so the 8.0 release will be very similar to what they've got.
Still, if I were doing a complete system overhaul, I'd download 8.0 and save myself about an hour of work.
