Mac emulator?
Is there anyway to run Mac programs (like final cut pro) on a PC w/any sort of stability? I'm currently dual booting Win2k and 98

The ARDI mac emulator is a commercial product that runs under Linux on Intel PCs.
ARDI has created its own version of the Mac OS that runs directly on PCs. Your Macintosh applications will think they are running on a Macintosh. Since we use our own implementation of the Mac OS, Executor does not require a license from Apple Computer, nor a copy of Mac OS, nor Macintosh ROM chips.
Its $75, and only $35 FOR STUDENTS!!
Here is a pic of it running under KDE in Linux..
There is a free 30 day demo here: http://www.ardi.com/executor/products/lin86_demo.html
There is also an OpenSource MAC Emulator called Basilisk that can emulate a Mac Classic (Mac OS 0.x - 7.5) or Mac II (MacOS 7.x, 8.0 and 8.1)
But it requires a copy of the Mac ROM image which you will have to get somewhere.
Basilisk II is an Open Source 68k Macintosh emulator. That is, it enables you to run 68k MacOS software on you computer, even if you are using a different operating system. However, you still need a copy of MacOS and a Macintosh ROM image to use Basilisk II. Basilisk II is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL).
Here is the Basilisk home page: http://www.uni-mainz.de/~bauec002/B2Main.html

For a non-linux approach here is emulator that will support up to Mac OS 8.1
I'm waiting for something (windows, linux or some x86 platform) that will emulate a PowerPC class Mac for OS X

There is an emulator called fusion that can run Mac OS8 and 9. I do not know about X. The emulator runs under DOS and uses a mac rom. Do a search. There is another emulator that comes with a PCI card that has a powerPC chip on it and can run Mac OS and AMiga under Windows NT. I can't remember its name. Search google.

Well....except Windows XP...its apparently just a cheap knock off of Mac OSX anyway..

AFAIK, no Mac emulators run MacOS 9 (or Mac OS X, for that matter), as they're PowerMac only: from MacOS 8.5, 68k support was dropped. So far, Mac emulators only emulate 68k machines.
I use Basilisk: works fine under Win2k, with MacOS 8.1.
