Vista Won't Install.
Windows Vista help:
Ok so I built a new computer (Quad Core Q9450) and i installed Windows XP (32-bit) until I got Vista (64-bit). I went out and bought Vista today, so I restart the computer and boot the vista DVD. It loads the files, and then brings up a green screen (the default backround of Vista) an then freezes. Any idea on how to fix

Great White Shark
Did you format the HDD prior to upgrading? If not, I'd recommend that...
Do you have other USB devices (like ext. HDDs) hooked up? If so, disconnect them.

Find the make of drive,go to their site and get their utility to format drive.
If you have a way to do it,burn on a cd-rw and boot off the cd and follow prompts to format drive.
After that insert Vista and boot off it,then repartition drive and format and continue with install.Make sure you set BIOS so that it boots off cd not hdd.
The reason I said cd-rw is,maybe you don't want to keep the program.

When you say you reboot the computer, then boot the Vista DVD...
Do you mean that you are booting from the DVD?
Or do you mean you rebooted, then put the Vista DVD into the computer and let it load once Windows was up and running?
