Site upgrades and improvements - Tags ?
Hi all,
Nice to see a few upgrades hit sharky that seem to be rolling out across other JM sites like multi-quote for instance.
However im just wondering what the point is in thread tags at the bottom, when they should be used, how they are visible in the thread or before entering the thread, etc?

Mr Zurkon is here to kill
they're for searching...if you go to search now you can search for tags instead of topics...anyone can add tags too...I added "upgrades" to this
though it seems like a very easy target for abuse
Lian Li PC-K7B | Intel i5 750 | 4GB A-Data 1600 | Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R | XFX Radeon 5850 | 2-640GB WD Caviar Blue | X-fi Xtrememusic | Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra | Dell U2311H | Antec Basiq Plus 550W | NEC 3550A | Win7 Ultimate x64
and a whole lot of lovin..

Indeed! I thought there would be some kind of moderation to the tags, else one could add any offensive tag at all?
However I can see how it would be useful. To those that use search though, which is a small amount of users. Personally I use it a bit.
What would be very useful as well is if more people used search to avoid duplicate questions being asked all the time. Maybe if it were possible for a script to analyse a new thread title/main content and suggest existing threads solving a problem before thread submission.
Just general ramblings above on how to make search features more prominent for site users. If tags become commonplace, it may be easier than a search that highlights every word, instead of subject.

I can create them? Right? Because of how awesome I am? Can I create all of them?
What are we talking about?
I don't like the way individual posts are spaced and divided now with a black border. It's weird, and makes threads looks less connected. Oh well.

you guys are graybeards around here, over 2500 posts, a.k.a. Carcharodon Carcharias, you can do lots of things. You'll find you can customize your own profile pages, upload photo albums, create groups etc.

Awesome.

Are those latter two things new features? o_O
Also, how does multi-quoting work?

click the multi-quote button, it enables a quote for that post, you do this for multiple posts, then click the 'Quote' button, seems like it just makes it easier to respond to multiple posts in a single post.
edit: looks like you can also order the quotes, that's pretty cool

You clickthat button on the posts you want to quote, then click Post reply, then sacrifice a chicken at midnight under a full moon, and voilà, multiple quotes.

I'd better put a guard on the hen house.

Will tags be disabled in the megamouth forum? OR at least until the general election is over. I can see those getting out of hand.
If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

I never even noticed that till you pointed it out. I really like the idea, you could have overclocker groups, etc. Love the idea for a photo album as well.

It doesn't matter, unregistered users cannot view that forum so bots cannot index it.

Quote test victory. This does not seem to work with quick replies, though... and hitting the "Go Advanced" button does not enter the quotes either.
