Far Cry 2

The game actually runs like a computer game should. Descent FPS, and I havent bothered with the "far cry 2 enhanced Nvidia drivers" , just regular ol' reference drivers.

Graphics - better than the gameplay movies look. Still not liking the whole muddy brown yellow scheme. I guess its something different. The trees and foliage dont look that realistic...you can shoot some of them down though, like in Crysis. I like the HDR effects. GOD RAYS ! nice touch, makes the sun seem HOT.

Sound - descent. Weapon sounds are tight and realistic. I love the heavy clunking of an empty cartridge ( shell ) as it hits the ground. Very well done. Background sounds are nice and ambienty. Dialog of NPCs are overly stupid , and very SOF3-ish. I guess the guys at ubisoft Montreal, didnt have an English dude working with them. I'm guessing the french dialog is much more believable.

Controls - simple, easy to use. No weapon firing modes ( single shot, auto, semi ) - would it be THAT hard to add that to the game ?? Great game for beginners . Very SOF-like controls.

Gameplay - I havent really gotten into the game much ...am I on some sort of timer ? What the heck is up with the whole malaria-thing ? I passed out and ended up back at base camp ?? why ???
-I like that you can choose your own character..kinda neat.
-I really enjoyed the jeep ride in...makes me wanna go to africa ! Very nice beginning.

Overall it's a bit better than i expected, but its still not an amazing game. Sort of a big let down from Far Cry , but still, it does run well, looks pretty nice if you play it on the highest graphics settings.

I didn't like the sound too much. The voices of the enemies sounded fake and when I hit a tin shed with my machete it sounds the same as when I hit a tree.

The jeep ride... it gave me the creeps. It reminded me of the beggining of that movie Shake Hands with the Devil or maybe Hotel Rwanda.

true dat. machete sounds are lame. People's voices are very SOF3-like.
Funny how the game is such a mix of good and crap. It's almost like they just rushed it out the door. weirdness.

Well Now I like the stupid game LOL.

I found about 8 diamond cases had in interesting mission. I attacked a big compound with about 20 people and I had a cheap sniper rifle.. it broke near the end of the mission so I'll have to find another. When I was attacking it starting raining and got real windy, pretty awesome.

One thing though, if you do go out and do what ever you want there's no point in it because when I back track the out posts are manned with enemies again.

Oh I found a dune buggy that is very fast, Killed some people with machatte, started some grass fires by accident when I blew up jeeps, I even stole a diamond case from a restricted zone.

I see that Eventually I will be able to buy stealth weapons.. could be fun. Why can't we alt-tab out of the game? same deal with warhead.

Is that before or after tax?

If you had your income in american cash, the conversion has been about 20% difference as the canadian dollar falls.

So far the game is pretty good but I hate how EVERYONE always tries to kill you even when you're just walking along a road or something.

Before tax dude I'll spend 50 $ on a game, but I find 60 $ is pushing it. Besides, the price usually drops back down to 50 $ after a month or so.

IIRC around May, not worth looking up because the game is terrible. Though it is borderline terrible in a fun way, but alas borderline isn't quite there so it is just terrible.

True, SOF3 was a brutally bad game.

You guys got to help me, I bought the game yesterday, but based on some of your reviews I am having second thoughts. Right now its sitting on my desk still sealed. My options are keeping it, returning it, returning it and getting dead space, or returning it and wait for fall out 3. What would you do?

Circuit city had a 10$ card with the game, so it was 50$. I look for deals on amazon and buy used as well. I find 60$ a little high too.
