How can Vista default to user at boot?
I have Vista & it always starts up with the user menu where you need to click on the user to get to your screen. Is there a way to get this to default to my user setup at startup?
Also, my wife is another user but she's unable to dlt. anything on her setup. I have her set as adminstrator like me but she always gets a msg. "you can delete this file, contact your administrator". I never new Vista would be so "unuser friendly".

From the rin box or a CMD window enter control userpasswords2.
Uncheck the box that says Users must enter a username and password to use this computer.
The logged in user will now be automatically logged on.
Just because someone is an administrator that doesn't mean they have permission to do as they wish.
If you wife is a member of any group that is denied permission to do something, it will override any other permissions. For some functions one must use the "run as administrator" option by right clicking on the shortcut.

I've entered the control userpasswords2 & nothing happened. Was I supposed to get something else to pop up with this command?
My wife was trying to delete unwanted icons from her desktop as I did on my desktop. Is the premise behind the multiusers required unlike XP a functionality of performance??

Check your typing. A dialog box will pop up.

That worked. Thanks. Had passwords2 spelled as passowrds2. I guess I'm dislexic.
Is there a main site I can goto for other tips like this on Vista?
