How about them Sharks? 2-1 vs. Pens only allowing 11 or so shots and 4-2 vs. Detroit, I like that. Patty was flying out there last night. Blew by Detriot defense a number of times.

The only thing I've been kind of concerned about the last two weeks is Nabby. He's given up a decent number of soft goals while Bouche is sitting on two starts and two shutouts.

Yea, that was a pretty soft shot by Hossa. Maybe he gets bored out there, from seeing so few shots, and zones out for a bit.

Boucher is like that; you'll get a great game or two out of him over a stretch, but if you rely on him to be a regular starter his weaknesses become more apparent. No way is he a better starter than nabby in any case.

After a slow start, the Flyers have won four straight and lead the league in:

    -goals
    -shorties
    -fighting majors

That was a fun couple of games vs the Sharks, too. SJ certainly looks like a contender out of the west, especially when guys like Marleau play up to their potential instead of loafing around. Joe can't do it all.

I'm going to the Kings/Flames game tonight. I look forward to hearing Oh Canada, it's been a while.

Your Gagne (whom I think is amazing) is DEFINITELY better than our Gagner! Though our Gagner may get better with age.

Missed the game, but saw the highlights... WOW Hemsky scored some pretty goals!

    Looked like an entertaining game...

Unfortunately, Nabby's GAA and Save% isn't looking too good right now. He shouldn't be scored on so much when the Sharks allow so few shots on goals per game. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, but still he needs to look like he did most of last season, Then the Sharks wouldn't loose.

The Sharks are still off to a Franchise best start and I love their work ethic. They're working hard for every inch of ice. They had too many times last season that they were lounging about and doing next to nothing.

Lol, the Oilers always beat us with that speed, even though Philly is a much faster team than in previous years. Glad we don't have to play them often. We still have some defensive issues to work out.

JDC or Nabby, I need an SJ fan's opinion on Matt Carle.

    tsn.ca

As I stated above Philly is looking to add a promising d-man, but just gave up a real fan favorite in Steve Downie to get one. And, Eminger is not bad in the first place (and cheaper than Carle), so I think this trade stinks as of right now.

Are congrats or condolences in order?

Don't get me wrong I liked Carle a lot and when we traded him I was somewhat saddened. Then I took a good hard look at what we got in return and was happy again . I personally don't know Philly's blueline very well so I'm not sure how he will fit in. The issue the Sharks ran into was that they were looking for a playmaking/quarterback defenseman for the power play. The Sharks tried Brad Stuart, didn't develop into what the organization wanted/needed, and then Matt Carle with similar results.

Is he good? Yes, very. Is he an amazing blue liner? I don't think so. He could become a number 2, 3, or 4 blue liner on a team but not much more. He still makes the "rookie" mistake here and there, even though he's not a rookie. I think he can do well no matter where he goes.

We have so many 4-5-6th d-men I'm not sure where he'd slot in yet--plus both in our usual second pairing are injured currently.

    Kimmo Timonen - Braydon Coburn
    Matt Carle - Ossi Vaananen
Luca Sbisa (R) - Kukkonen or Andrew Alberts

With Randy Jones and Ryan Parent still out, that's nine. Hatcher would be ten but he's likely not coming back from injury.

Well, you were right. With Nabby out on IR we're relying on Bouche and man has he shown some kinks in his armor. I am somewhat disappointed. I hope Nabby can recover and come back for us soon.

yea, mental lapses have cost him a few goals, luckily the Sharks offense have been bailing him out.
