Great White Shark
I found some strange bug with FC2 ..
I was messing with the settings on the display gfx details.
at one point I set some of the gfx options higher and at one point I actually got higher fps on a higher detail setting than on a lower detail setting ?!
or it might be world data streaming that was making my fps dip rather than my gfx card not being able to handle the detail.

That's one of my biggest pet peeves with PC gaming. Too many people seem more interested in games as benchmarking tools and stressing about whether they're getting 34.3 FPS compared to the 35FPS that they're SURE they should be able to get, than actually playing the game to enjoy.
Crysis is the perfect example.
I'm not sure why or if that is true. FC2 ran fine on my PC except in some of the very wide open areas. Everyone once in a while it would bog down, I'm not sure why. Memory or maybe my computer needed to be reboot but it was generally very easy on my computer.
Crysis was another story. Warhead... I needed that mod to play it and make it look half decent and I have a core 2 duo E8400, 2 gigs of 1064mhz OCZ, Striker II mobo and 8800GTS 512mb vid card.

Zoom-Zoom!
I'm now in Act 2 (after you wake up in desert) and it's growing on me. A new map opened up and the missions seem more varied/difficult. The guard boats and stations are more difficult now since they get rockets and mortars. I killed some guy and took his jeep that has a mortar on the back. This puts things in your favor and I own their candy@$$ anytime I want. Upcoming guard post, no problem. Mortar it to hell...lol. Someone approacing in a jeep? One shot and their jeep is exploded. Much easier.
On one mission, I was suposed to kill this guy in a village. I just sat at the outskirts and mortared the village for 1 minute. It killed the guy and the objective was complete. If anyone destroys my jeep, I just reload my last save and redo.
Oh, if you're viewing the map (key 5), press R and it switches between maps. You can now see an overview map any time you want.

I must have been doing something wrong because when I used the mortor to try and kill that guy giving a speech (just before the new map) all I got was a bunch of smoke. I don't think I killed anyone. I ended getting attacked and having to kill everyone with my guns.
at 50%, just after new map, after you help the barge get to the dark. It really was hard (reload reload reload) but that's when I got a [little bored of it. Then I reformat my computer and forgot to back up my save
Crap! I might have gone back to it but it will be a long time before I feel compelled to start at the very beginning LOL. No way, though I've played FC1 many times.

These skills DO NOT transfer into real life.. except for shooting guns if you play America's Army.

about 2 or 3 hours in of actual playing. it took me like a 3 hours to figure out the "key binding" bug
but the game still kinda get "stuck" when I mount a machine gun. I can't get off it. once I mount it the button/key to dismount won't work
performance is Iffy too. at the same setting at the same exact point in the game (via load game) I get inconsistant fps. sometimes my fps would be around 15 and sometimes it would be around 25-30
this game is definitely like stalker as u need to spend alittle time in the beginning to get some decent gear to really enjoy the game.
as of nwo I dont' really like it that much. but I have the same feeling with stalker but after I am alittle more into the game I really like it. hope it is the case with this too.

Freddy....I was just kidding..... I am sorry to hear some of you guys having issues with the gameplay, every once in awhile I have a millisecond of hesatiation, which I contribute to the 5600, I do think that haveing a quad core and running it on Vistas would prove to be a smoother experience. but I enjoy it as it is .....at 42% last checked, just over 31 hours of play, on the second map, on my way to meet the boat captian.

I was just kidding to.
It took me till 50% to get to the new map but I got almost all those shacks unlocked.. why I don't know.
I think the difficulty ramps up when you're on that barge, I got killed a lot of times but then I spotted those guys on the far shore shooting at me.
