Yes, that was fixed a long time ago by saying they communicate through mediums or whatever and their dialog can be written as <dialog>, instead of quotes. At least that is how they do it in other warhammer books.

Anyway, I have decided against necrons. After reviewing the codex and messing with them a bit I don't think they are for me. I have finally decided on imperial guard. The reason being I love the tanks/vehicles and they offer me tons of customization through "paperhammer." I will probably pick up the battleforce this week and start painting them. I started making some paper bunkers out of cardstock. I am trying to source some 1mm cardstock so I can try my hand at making vehicles. My long term goal is to craft a warhound from scratch.

Walked out of the movie theater after seeing Star Trek..turned to the left and GAMES WORKSHOP store was right in front of me. I did not know there was one RIGHT by me. Went inside with my son, and stayed for about 2 hours watching a 3v3 battle with 500 pieces EACH side. Was freaking insane..loved it, and I can totally see the appeal to it. We had fun just watching all those dice roll for the nobs in melee and stuff. Really neat, but complicated!

    Its honestly not THAT complicated....

after you've played 2-3 games its pretty simple..ya you'll screw up a rule here and there but as you play you start to get the hang of it.

We watched the store manager do an introductory game with some people and it made sense. Roll for hit, roll for penetration, then other gets to roll for armor save. Just a lot of dice going when you get two dice per squad member. I'd be interested in playing it but no way am I going to glue/paint my own pieces..I hated doing that with models when I was a kid so I know I wouldn't like it now.

*on a side note I did buy a couple Warhammer 40K novels at the used bookstore and I am currently reading First and Only

Yeah I noted that in my thread. I used Krylon Crystal Clear varnish and I don't like how it came out. I will be going back over him with a matte finish. I just don't feel like spending 8 dollars on a can right now.

Painting them is actually very rewarding and fun. You don't have to spend a ton of time painting. There are some very easy processes that yield table top standard results. Like Recon said in another thread, the dipping method lets you do an entire army in a weekend.

I don't know if it's any simpler playing the game now, I'd certainly hope so as in the version I played while the basics were simple enough it became massively complicated when you had a lot of high level units particularly when you added Dark Millenium which beefed up the rules for Psykers and vehicles. I never actually bothered painting most of my army and instead preferred spending the time on the game itself so as long as my opponent and I were agreed on what the units were from the start that was fine.

I've actually just started reading the same series as I'd heard a lot of positive comments about it, I have to admit I'm not a fan of the Imperial Guard compared to the Astartes however I've run out of other WH40k books and knowing how well Dan Abnett does with 'normal' characters I decided to give it a go and bought the first six for travelling. So far I've been really enjoying them aside from some of the random jumping around which I find a little tricky to follow at times.

There's a few Heresy books due this year which I'm hoping are going to pick the pace back up, Prospero burns certainly sounds promising as this is one of the big events in the heresy where the Space Wolves clashed with the Thousand Sons after being sent to take the Primarch Magnus back to Terra.
