Can't complete installation of serious sam 2

I have been trying to install Serious Sam 2 but it always gets stuck at 75 % and it won't give me any errors or asks to insert disk again like most games do..so any help is greatly apreciated. I've been away from the PC gaming scene for a while so I may be laggin a bit on the uptake. I'm running Vista SP1, AMD quad core Phenom, 4 gig Ram, ATI 4650 vid

I have been away from PC games for a while myself, check and see if the game is compatable with Vista, if it is check and see if something you have running in the background is interfering with it loading. You may have done this already i`m not familiar with the game.

I just installed it on my rig and played part of the first level. The installer was unable to create the desktop shortcut, but everything else worked fine. I forgot how cool this game is, I think I'm going to play it through again

I did notice that the file decompression was very slow at certain points during the installation: are you sure it was completely locked up? It took 15-20 minutes to complete the installation. I have the four disk cdrom US retail version.

EDIT: FYI, I always run software installers as "administrator". This is sometimes required for a sucessful installation. I don't know if you did this or not, but it's worth a try if you didn't.

Just finished Serious Sam II. If you are an FPS fan this game is a must. Even if you've played it in the past, it's worth a rerun if you haven't seen it on a modern PC: it looks awesome at 1920 X 1200 with all of the eye candy maxxed out. A fun, fun game.

I just completed it on "Serious" difficulty with 18 lives to spare... release the pigeons!!!

The game played just fine on Vista x64 except for the "shortcut" glitch mentioned above.
