    Finally something interesting

    ASUS has two new motherboards coming soon for i5 Core and i7 Core that include USB 3.0 and SATA 6G, the P7P55D-E Premium and the P6X58D Premium.

    I'm sure Gigabyte and others will be coming soon too.

    Getting ready for my next build. Now to choose between the i7-860 (1156 dual channel) and i7-920 (1366 triple channel).

    If you're splashing out all that cash for an i7 build, why not just go triple channel?


    PS: Also buy Asus, not gigabyte junk.

    I'm leaning toward the X58 board from ASUS, just need to see a review or two about the USB 3.0 when it arrives.

    Right now I don't really care much about the SATA 6, although I eventually will.

    Looks like USB 3.0 will be a good thing, while SATA 6gb doesn't add much yet.

    Nice to see that ASUS will have an add on USB3/SATA6 card for $29 that performs about the same as onboard.

    Both my C2D and my i7 boards have been Gigabytes and both were/are rock solid and great overclockers.

    Personal choice I suppose.

    From my point of view, every asus board ive used has been rock solid and very nice to own. Gigabyte boards however ive found to be an absolute pain, poorly soldered and junk that ive had to replace once (the only time I made that mistake) and then countless times for customers.

    Its almost garaunteed when I replace someones dead motherboard, its a gigabyte board.






    Everybodies individual opinion, but gigabyte would be in my IT hell.

    I gotta vote for a tie for you guys -- I have only used ASUS and Gigabyte the last 3 or 4 years and have been happy with both. No problems at all in over a dozen builds.

    I am pretty excited by the ASUS $29 USB3/SATA6 card though.

    I've had a few Asus boards and they have all been great. Using the X58 with my I7 920 now and its rock solid, but I have not overclocked it yet.

    I am waiting also, time to get my toes wet with an I7. I also do not like gigabyte boards and I try to avoid them when I can. I had a couple decent boards in the past, but not overclocking champs. But not shabby either. I am more all Asus now as I was then too.
