    Installed new HD--no internet??

Just installed a new SATA HD in my old rig and the install went fine but I'm gettng no internet connection. I have a DSL connection (direct connection) that is definitely working but when I go into Network Connections I only see two 1394 connections that are enabled. I attempt to 'Make a New connection' but it's doing nothing. I have not installed any programs at all (no firewall, AV's, etc).

By the way, I installed Win XP SP1 on the system.

    Am I overlooking something?

    Thanks

    Adam

Just to clarify--this pc originally had a Windows crash so instead of doing a 'Repair Install' I just picked up a new HD and installed WinXP on the new drive. So basically, this is my exact same pc except I just pulled out the old drive and put in the new one. It is connected to a router and my laptop, which connects wirelessly to this same router, is connecting to the interet just fine. (((((this system is the one that listed in my sig)))))). The ethernet cable that is connected to the system is lighting up as it should, so it's defintely 'receiving' the signal from the router.

I can't remember if it's necessary to install drivers for routers. Could that be the problem? Maybe I just need to install the drivers for the router.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    thanks

as far as I know, its not necessary to install router drivers. I'm guessing you did install the network card driver?
