    Backup to Virtual Machine

Does anyone know of a utility that will allow me to backup my laptop to a virtual machine and actually run that virtual machine on my desktop? I guess you could view it as more of an archive than a backup.

    Thanks in advance.
    Laptop: Inspiron 8600 | Pentium M - 1.5GHz | 1.5GB RAM | 80GB 7200RPM | ATI Mobility 9600 Pro | Runs WoW OK

    Garage1: IBM PC 5150 | 4.77MHz 8088 | 640KB RAM | 2x160KB Floppy | 10MB HD | 320x200x4 color | Runs Bards Tale Great!

Virtual machines have a rather static hardware configuration. It won't match your notebook.

As a back you are better of getting Acronis True image 2010

    Example, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ue&Order=PRICE

Backup the laptop to a tib files on the Desktop. You can not run it on the desktop but if total resore needed you can Put the image back on the Laptop.

If you just need Files. TI let you mount the image as a virtual drive.

You can not Boot from the virtual file. but you can see all files, and copy as regular files to other drives.

If you want to go the VPC and try to make Bootable VHD, maybe this can Help, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../ee656415.aspx
