Outlook 2007 links not working
On my Vista Ultimate machine I have strange problem with links in Outlook 2007 emails. If I click on the link I get the message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." I had been experimenting with Google Chrome and Apples Safari browsers, but I went into Programs>Default Programs>Set your default programs to make sure that Internet Explorer was back to my default. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. Any ideas?

Administrator
Look in Outlooks->Tools->SECURITY

In Outlook 2007 there is no explicit security tab under tools. Anything security oriented does nothing to fix the problem.

Well this is one of the dangers of trying out software without thinking it through first. A couple of weeks ago I tried out Google's Chrome browser. I wasn't thrilled with it and I uninstalled it. So I thought. Unfortunately it left some junk over in the registry. To fix the problem I had to do the following:
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.html
If you look at the value you will see it as 'ChromeHTML'. This is no good. Change it to 'htmlfile' (without quotes).
Repeat for .htm key and change it to 'htmfile'.
Repeat for .shtml key and change it to 'shtmlfile.'
I'll talk about my dissapointment with Chrome another time.
