    AMD stock cooler

How crappy is the AMD stock cooler? I have one from a 720 that I was thinking about using on a 5400+ BE. I will not be overclocking or anything.

My 955be 3.2Ghz is running with stock cooler, in case in sig webbrowsing etc ~32C.

Under load ~55, not bad at all.

It is a bit noisy but overall not too bad.

yeah, only problem with stock cooler is the little fan is noisy. If you aren't ocing, then its fine.

I had a "performance" stock amd cooler. It was actually really good and quieter than most premium coolers. Sometimes the odd good stock cooler can surprise you.

Thanks I would just assume save the 30USD for a heat sink/fan. I only going to be using the computer for day to day stuff and maybe occasional gaming/cpu intensive stuff when I'm too lazy to get off the couch and use my main computer. I think I am going to use a blue LED fan on the heat sink since I have one of those blue acrylic cases.

You should be just fine with the stock cooler. It's a copper heatpipe design, and it's probably better than the HSF that came with the 5400BE.

No heat pipes. It is all aluminum. I thought the fan was 80mm but it is smaller so I am leaving the stock fan. I don't intend on doing anything intensive with this rig. There is no reason to overclock the 5400BE. The video card is an X800XT which should be good for light gaming.

drdoom, my bad. I was thinking of the stock HSF that came with my Phenom I 9850BE. That one was pretty hefty with heat pipes and copper base. Still, the all aluminum should be passable, I believe. Just check your temps under load. Best of luck.
