Fixing to leave for procedure, just want to say the 4 120mm fans that come with the Lian Li PC-B70 are the quitest i have ever had, i can`t even hear the Corsair 1000W fan, i guess it is the insulation in the case, which there is a lot of. i also like the fan filters.

Roger, you probably have to stop at 3.2 to 3.4 with stock cooler.

**** WARNING WARNING you MUST have excellent cpu cooling ****
The following BIOS settings got me to 4.2Ghz, see recommendation below on how I got there.
    C1E: disable
    Hardware Prefetcher: disable
    Adjacenct Cache: disable
    Intel VT: disable
    CPU TM: disable
    Exceute Disable Bit: disable
    Intel HT: Enable
    Active Processore Cores: Enable
    A20M : disable
Intel Speed Step: Enable ( *Turbo On Multiple @ 21)
Intel Turbo Mode: Enable ( *Turbo On Multiple @ 21)
    Intel C-STATE: disable
Set your memory timings to those recommended by maker and Vdimm to 1.65
    CPU Ratio Setting: Auto
    BCLK: 200Mhz
    PCIE: 100Mhz
    DRAM: 1600Mhz (I'm using DDR3 1600 ram, your's may be different)
    Vcore: 1.45V
    CPU Pll: auto
    QPI/DRAM: auto
    IOH: auto
    IOH PCIE: auto
    ICH: auto
    ICH PCIE: auto
    DRAM Bus: 1.64V
    Load-Line Calibration: Enable
    CPU Clock Skew: auto
    CPU Spread Spectum: Disable
    IOH Clock Skew: auto
    PCIE Spread Spectum: Disable
Bump up Vcore one notch from stock (1.08) and set Bclk to 140. Boot and make sure you're stable (Prime95??? or your app of choice). Keep cpu temp at or below 74c. Then slowly move up to 4.2Ghz by bumping Bclk 10Mhz at a time up to 180, then by 5Mhz to 200, booting after each bump and checking stability. For each bump in Bclk bump Vcore two notches up to 1.45. Check DRAM Freq at each bump in Bclk to be sure you are at or below max freq for your memory.

I did like you said and went up 5 and my cpu is now running at 2779mhz(fsb of 138), i run the 3D Mark Vantage advanced edition and got 3D mark score of P11443, cpu score of 17313 and graphics score 10281. I forgot and run it at 1280X1024. temps stayed in the 40`s for MB and cpu. Will go up 5 more and run 3d mark again. Graphics card is not overclocked. I have it set at 147mh and my cpu speed is 2.95, i think i will just run it like this for a while don`t need to go much more to get 3GH, just wanted it to run at same speed as my duo core 8400. I tweeked 3dmark so much it would not give me a score. The cpu is still running in the high 40`s at idel and in the 50`s at load. BTW i have the same ram as u do.

lone, is that HD4890 a stop gap card? When are you gonna get the HD5870's....or, the HD5970? Anyway, looks like you'll have the most kickbutt rig here at SF. OS, I'm running Cat9.10 right now, all games (other than the two I'd mentioned) are running just fine. I'm now waiting for Amazon to deliver the active DP->DVI adapter to my v-address before it can be shipped to my neck of the wood. lone, you really should consider going tri-monitor gaming with EyeFinity, I'm going that route too. But as of now, EyeFinity doesn't work with CFX, I think Cat 9.12's the one to look at, don't think Cat9.11 will resolve this issue yet....but ya never know.

I was thinking of using the 4890 for now if i don`t have to wait too long i`ll get a 5970 if i do i`ll get 2 5870`s, the 4890 is not a small card but it looks small in my case. so i`ll have no problem putting two large cards in my case.

Yeah, thank goodness I was into bigass cases, I do believe my TJ03 and Mozart TX would be able to accommodate these cards. My Soldam XR-1 certainly does, though there isn't much space left between it and the drive bay.

I'd toyed with the idea of getting the Corsair Obsidian, but can't justify the expense since I have pretty good cases already.

I wish graphic card companies would not release new cards until they have enough to meet the demand for them, still none in stock. BTW, OZ thanks for all the help, you have saved me a lot of time. I will update when i get my new video cards. Mikey, is that just one or 2 5870`s, you have.

I have chosen to go with the 5970, why hook up 2 cards when one will do.

Sounds good to me, now, if you can just get your hands on one! Maybe the wait will have some benefit, by then they'll have the drivers straightened out

    You might consider 2 x 5770s ...
