Tho I'd have been more forgiving of him not getting open from his running routes if he'd been able to catch the ball in more than a few critical points last year.

I wanted to beat him like a pinhata after a few key drops last year.

I remember he was really in the doghouse. Then he ran the 2 kicks back (I think it was against the Jets), and I thought he would maybe use that to get going. But after that game he just dissappeared and I did not hear anything about him.

LOL! Yea... he's looking terrible right now.

It's amazing how somebody can look like a world beater one week, and a dud the next. Even against a good defence. It's so seemingly random sometimes.

Vikes sure seem to have his number today tho.

That being said, never say never. Nobody ever thought that Eli Manning would ever lead the Giants to a SB title. And lead him he did.

Maybe next year will be Romo's year? The one after that? The one after that? Who knows for certain...

lol Romo is never going to do any better. As stated earlier, he's over-rated mediocrity. The Vikings picked them apart all game, and I thought it was awesome that they went for the touchdown when it was already 27-3. Romo was sacked 6 times, knocked down countless more, and threw what, 2 interceptions I think? If Romo is Dallas' 'Golden Boy' then they need to go back to basics.

Edit: And so far on my predictions I'm 2/3 (damn Ravens!)

Lets go Jets!! Knock Rivers and the Chargers out of the game.

    Next Predictions:

Jets win, playing the Colts next week.

    Colts vs. Jets - Colts
    Vikings vs Saints - Vikings

    Super Bowl

Vikings vs Colts - Vikings win

Not that I particularly like Romo, or Dallas... nor do I like Eli Manning, or the Giants (whom I actually hate) but it's pretty hard to say that one guy won't "win" when NFL football is the consumate TEAM game.

(unlike other sports IMO like the NBA where one player can basically make or break a team's fortunes)

You allude to it in your own post... he was sacked 6 times. How many close call "pressures" added onto that? I don't know that Romo's "bad play" was every bit as much of Dallas's poor O-line/pass protection or Minn's superior D-line/defensive scheme. In the post game Fox show, Howie Long commented that the much anticipated matchup between Dallas wide recievers and Minn's secondary didn't occur as Romo simply didn't have time to find them all day.

Put ANY NFL QB in the right position (or perfect position), and they can win a Super Bowl. As evidenced by a terrible QB in the form Trent Dilfer winning one with the Ravens years back.

Nobody... here or anywhere else can predict whether Dallas can, or will put together so much good supporting cast around Romo that he won't win one Super Bowl.

Undoubtably, Romo is over hyped. I agreed with this the moment that he replaced Bledsoe. Dallas fans seemed to think that this was their Messiah. Got overly excited over far too little.

But to flatly state that Romo can never win one in Dallas is to declare a future that nobody could possibly tell.

Trent Dilfer won one. Think about that. He was pure awful.

Trent Dilfer was functional and solid. He didn't really help the team nor hurt the team. The team won because he didn't help them lose. Romo reminds me of Rex Grossman. Capable of big plays but also capable of hurting his team in a big way.

Eli and Romo are nothing alike. Eli is more like Trent Dilfer. He's solid, not flashy. He gets the job done and nothing more. There's no reason to compare them.

I think the Cowboys are good *in spite* of Romo, not because of him.

This was Trent Dilfer in his PRIME. Earlier in his career, he just plain sucked.

The "best" that he ever got was average. Career completion percentage: 55.5%. TD to INT ratio: 113-129. QB rating: 70.2.

His two best seasons, one in which he made the Pro Bowl in Tampa Bay, the other Baltimore's Super Bowl season:

    1. Completion percentage: 56.2%. TD to INT ratio: 21 to 11. QB rating: 82.8.
    2. Completion percentage: 59.3%. TD to INT ratio: 12 to 11. QB rating: 76.6.

This was the best that he ever got. The worst was abysmal.

Romo reminds me of Rex Grossman. Capable of big plays but also capable of hurting his team in a big way.
    A good comparison I think.

I think that Eli is much more flashy than Dilfer. As evidenced by this past season:

Completion percentage: 62.3%. TD to INT ratio: 27 to 14. QB rating: 93.1.

I also think that Eli's last drive to win his Super Bowl was proof in the clutch. I would have never trusted Dilfer to be able to pull out a drive like that.

I think the Cowboys are good *in spite* of Romo, not because of him.
    I disagree. To a point.

As much as Romo was over hyped coming in after Bledsoe... there was an unmistakable difference in the Cowboy's fortunes.

Other than the "wins" column, compare their season stats:

    http://www.nfl.com/teams/dallascowbo...AL&seasonType=

Romo is *part* of the Cowboys success. I think that he's a good... not great QB. I think that the Cowboys would be worse off with an average QB.

The Cowboys have great RBs, great WRs, an amazing TE, a solid OL and quality D. (I'm running out of adjectives lol.) I would be willing to bet they'd be just as good with Kitna. Bledsoe was horrible in Dallas, so it's not really much to compare his and Romo's numbers.

I really don't like the Cowboys though, so I hope they keep playing Romo for as long as possible.

And yet despite all this, not really much going on on the ground to speak of (like 3.8 yards per run), 34 points scored against the D, and Romo having intense pressure all day on him. Not one aspect of Dallas's game was good... not just Romo.

I think that this was more of everybody on the team not doing good enough rather than just Romo blowing it.

I can remember an old regular season game where the Redskins beat the Bears 10-9. Mark Rypien threw 5 INTs that game. The Redskins won "in spite of" Mark Rypien's performance.

This to me is markedly different than Dallas's season of winning this year "in spite of" Romo.

Bledsoe was horrible in Dallas, so it's not really much to compare his and Romo's numbers.
Drew's first year in Dallas was decent. It was his second year... where he only started 6 times... before getting yanked for Romo... which sucked.

I really don't like the Cowboys though, so I hope they keep playing Romo for as long as possible.
I don't really care that they lost... though I would have enjoyed "bugging" privledges over my roomie (Vikes fan) for the day.

I just think that the Vikes were better than the Cowboys in every possible aspect... not just QB play.

If Big Ben Roethlisberger played for Dallas, They would have won at least one superbowl by now.

Wow... I am surprised as hell that the Jets beat the Chargers.

I thought that Cincy would have beat the Jets. That didn't happen. I thought that the Chargers would CRUSH the Jets. I am stunned.

Wow has San Diego managed to choke for some time now.

I would *think* that the Colts will CRUSH the Jets yet again... but the Jets are looking like they are legit this post season.

Simms was right about the kickoff before they even made it. Stupid to do an onside - too risky. Kick the ball down the field and that 4th and 1 on the Jets end of the field probably wouldn't have happened. Chargers dominate all season and then choke it away in the playoffs. Chargers today are losing games they are supposed to win. Chargers of old won games they were supposed to lose. Bring back Bobby Ross and Stan Humphries!

edit to add: The Jets running game is pretty stout and that defense is strong. Don't care for them or the Colts, just hope it's a good SB game regardless of who all makes it.

The only gripe I have about the job Rex Ryan has done is he is being a little too careful with Sanchez. He keeps getting away with it, but it seems he only throws on 3rd down. If they are going to have a chance against the Colts they are going to have to take a shot a couple times on 1st down. As good as their D is, the Colts are going to score.
